Has anybody else read this guy?

My kid Ross (17) gave me a few titles to read, and while not all of it is great (Ross agrees, btw), I was quite intrigued with a good bit of it.  His stuff is a mixed bag, but they are short books, more like novellas, that you can read quickly.

For those of you who remember usaking...well, this author would be his wet dream -- one of a small group of authors pioneering a "new genre" they have dubbed bizzaro fiction.

My favorite title was Razor Wire Pubic Hair, which was a trippy, futuristic nightmare with a satisfying conclusion, good use of clever language, and monsters that run around raping people.

His book The Haunted Vagina would make an interesting film, actually.  I was less impressed with Satan Burger (Satan runs a burger stand after the apocalypse), and another story that almost read like a children's book, with the improbable title of The Baby Jesus Butt Plug.  I mean, for real.

I have no idea how Ross stumbled across this author (and he ain't sayin') -- much less why I let him read such trash haha.

But nevertheless, this author is doing some very interesting work unlike anything I have read before -- (apart from usaking -- and who knows, maybe the guy is actually onto something...?) -- with a large counter-culture following that has me kind of wondering WTF?

Would be interested what others think of this guy.

I stumbled upon him on Amazon about a year ago.  I haven't read any of his stuff, but I remember the off beat titles  and the bizarro fiction tag.

Well if your looking for something crazy and unusual to read then something from Mellick would be it.  The only work of his I read was "Candy Coated," and another one I care not to mention.  So please don't ask.

The thing with Mellick is a lot of people just don't get" it," or the appeal of his material but I think that's the whole point. They're not really complex, or well written stories with great characters but Mellick's much smarter then his works would suggest.  He does something different and some of his stuff is worth reading, just for a different experience.

No pun intended but If your looking to read any of his works, don't go running down to your local library or bookstore because you probably wont find them.

If your interested in Bizarro for starters and want a smoother entry, may I recommend "Foop" by Chris Genoa.
