A couple weeks ago inspiration prompted me to write a script (feature comedy) of my own. After some quick googling I came across SS and have been lurking in a few of the forums trying to learn the lingo and what is involved in writing a decent script. I picked a few scripts to read that sounded interesting and have learned quite a bit from just reading them. The posted reviews also help a great deal, especially with the formatting. I will attempt to make some comments of my own once I get through them.
As far as my idea, I have written a rough outline of the story and characters in notepad. In one of the forums someone mentioned a program called Celtx. I downloaded it and began the process. So far so good. I wouldn't have ever guessed that would be as fun as it's been. I just hope I can portray these characters on paper like they are in my head :)

"Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over."
Welcome to SS.

Hi Dave:) Welcome! (From a relative newbie...)
One thing I love to do on SS is to cruise the boards for interesting thread topics - there's so much about this stuff that you don't know you don't know...y'know? Oh, and the podcasts are excellent! (Props, Mike. I bow to your awesomeness.)
Anyway, good luck on your script!
