SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Questions or Comments  /  Screenrider's Petition

Hey all, I received an E-Mail from Michael Harrop, aka Screenrider.

He really wants to come back to SS and hopes Don will allow it, after all these months of being banished.

Here's what he said, "I would like to know if I can come back to SS.  I promise I'll be on my best behavior".

So, what do you all think?  I know it's up to Don, but a few votes of encouragement could go a long way.

For the record, my vote is yes.  The guy contributes alot, writes alot, and adds to SS, wether or not, you like what he says, or how he says it.

What say you?

Pia, are you saying he's not even banned, like he thinks he's been?

Welcome back Shawn "Ledbetter"!!!  Where you been?

I don't know Jeff, but I think usually when someone gets banned their account disappears. Not sure though.

He's definitely banned.

I would unban him (since Phil isn't around and they were the two that were arguing constantly) but I think the issue has gone beyond that and is now between Don and screenrider.  So, I'd leave it up to Don.

OK, Michael, got ya...and agree.

Will Don see this thread, or what should I(we) do?  I told Michael that I'd post this for him, and want to follow through with it.

Let me know...

Thanks for jumping in.

If you're interested in following it up pm Don and let him know about the thread.

OK, will do.  Just didn't want to bother him, as I've heard he's incredibly busy, to the point of not being able to even post new scripts.  Not sure if this is the best time for a decision from him...know what I'm saying?

His account is still active from what I see. It doesn't say "Guest user" next to his old posts like those who've deleted their accounts.

He contributes alot, Jeff? Seriously. He reads entire features, supposedly, and leaves a three sentence review.

I don't know what happened, but Don assured me it wasn't my little pisstake script that got him banned that night. Or our ensuing argument.

Just admit it Jeff, you like to see turmoil on the boards. I'm not here much anymore so could give a shit less. Bring him back.

On a positive note, good to see you back Shawn. You're definitely one of the better writers here IMO. Hope to see something new from you.

I'd be happy to see him back. He brought a unique perspective often, and I think he did care about the site. Hopefully they can work something out.

I'd like to see Phil back too. We're gonna have to trick him back, I think, like that rabbit with the cereal.

James, I don't want to get into a scuffle with you, but your remarks here are not appreciated.  Coming from a guy who literally says he's wasted and looking for trouble numerous times, doesn't bode well with your comments.  I may enjoy a little turmoil every now and then, but not when it's at anyone's expense, and I seriously mean that.

I'll have a go with anyone who wants it, deserves it, or comes after me, but that's the extent of it...other than 1 time I came after Cornetto for no real reason other than I was wasted and pissed at him anyways. I regret it.  I'm embarrassed by it.  And I hope he forgives me for it.  And...I almost got booted for it myself, and did get a 3 day ban, which I more than deserved.

You can say all you want about Screenrider's feedback, but at least he reads and comments.  Based on the way the boards have been lately, that would be a welcome relief, as it's been dead...DEAD...FUCKING DEAD!

We all make mistakes.  We all fuck up.  It takes a "man" (no sexist thinking here, girls) to own up to it and admit you were wrong, and apologize.  Never too late for apologies.

Greg, I don't know what that means.  I'm simply doing what Michael asked me to and see where everyone stands on his return. He's a good guy at heart, and he definitely has heart.

It takes all kinds to make this fucking world go round, and I for one think he adds alot to the SS world.

It's not up to me, obviously.

I didn't even know SC was banned - thought he'd just taken a 'sabbatical'.

If this 'petition' holds any weight (is Don's decision ultimately) then yeah, course Michael (SC) should come back.

And, good to see you back Shawn!

Screenrider got banned? What happened?

Weird thread.  I usually do not allow threads discussing those who cannot respond.

Did he ask you to do that, Jeff?  Start a thread?  Please let me know, as it makes a difference as to whether or not this thread remains.

I'd leave it up to Don.

Absolutely.  Another reason I question this thread.

Ha.  I really had no problems with him on his good days -- as long as he realizes there is a limit to how much witnessing the boards can tolerate.

I would assume you are monitoring this thread, SR, and if you object to its presence, I would hope you make that known.

Since I been writing my first draft of an expanded short (Servant), I been popping in and out of here from time to time; but now that it was pointed out I didn't know SR was gone either. I never had a problem with him. We got along alright. But now and then I hear these tales of woe, and I'm like is it the same guy? Can't be! Of course, the scales seem to tip out of his favor each time.

I'm down for whatever makes Bert's job more difficult.  :)

i ghosted several of his threads (and i believe i saw the thread that led to his banishment...or at least contributed). personally, i thought the guy was hilarious. but he was a troublemaker. he didnt make an effort to understand the mod's POV. instead, he questioned their reasoning and used his religious beliefs as his defense. taking it one step further, he used the Bible as his motivation retaliating.

if he comes back, it will only be a matter of time before he's banned again. he's made similar promises in the past.

Yes, Bert, as I thought I already mentioned in the first post.   Michael E-Mailed me and asked me to post that thread.  He even gave me the name of it and I quoted exactly what he asked.
