Hostel Part 3 - Print Topic

Saw the trailer. While normally I wouldn't judge a book by a cover, one can always see the price. I didn't "love" the first film, but when the film went into a thriller-escape mode, I started to like that third act. The sequel opened up with the death of the character and while I understand the tip of the hat to those horrors which knock off the heroes from the previous film in the first reel--it wasn't as interesting. B.O. numbers also show this.

With Hostels and the Saw films (hey, guess who's not back for H'Ween!) folks are getting a bit weary of the "torture" horror sub-genre. It's like, ha-ha you got us. Let's move on.

I thought the third Hostel would deal with the Orphans (whose fathers are probably dead, mothers are topless decoys/Hunting Club employees, thats a wild guess) or maybe we'd get a "Taken" situation (I still can imagine the mashup)

But instead they switch locations. Where? Vega$.

There's that scene in the trailer where a vic is subject to death by his killer; a curtian opens up and Rich High Rollers/ mems of Hunt Club are taking bids. I yawned, thinking,

a - didn't the last Saw have a trap where the public watched; this is a variation of it and

b- I have seen B films where "underground" Vegas clubs bet on guys who fight to the death, this is nothing more than a variation of it and

c- Where is the Hostel? Getting "lost" in another country controlled by the Russian (?) Mafia is one thing; US soil is something else.

Now, that said, I can't in all honesty say I will skip it. I will try. But I saw all the Saws. I saw the first two Hostels. Sometimes I'll survive a DTV Steven Seagal flick. (Sometimes not)

Which reminds me. The first two flicks were shot on forign soil by Eli Roth. One would assume costs would be a bit lower than shifting action to Las Vegas.
