Saw this on TV today. This kind of film is not usually one I am quick to select, but I have to say, it's worth the watch. It has its silly moments. But it succeeds in creating a unique world that's intriguing, and the super hero's are pretty original. I even approved of the vampires, which are just gargoyle like monsters.

From a screenwriters perspective, I loved the device they used to set the world up. I think this is based on a comic book or something, so it was natural to do what they did, but it was pretty cool and effective. A narrator related the circumstances of the world while on the screen the history was depicted in drawings. We are told the vampires and humans have fought throughout history, and shown pictures of medieval armies battling nights, then WWII era armies doing the same. The vampires are stronger, but humans have the light. Eventually things end up in a post apocalyptic state where the humans have won, aided by the creation of priest warriors, and the vampires are kept on reservations. I just thought it was effective to set things up this way, the combination of the VO and the drawings.

Only major problems I had were the ending, and the plan by the antagonist. Since the plan was central to the plot, that was disappointing. I'll talk more on that if someone else sees the film and wants to discuss. And the ending, with the motorcycle and the train...come on.

But overall, entertaining for this kind of thing.

Damn...what a monumental letdown for me.  Wanted to see this in the theater when it came out.  Wanted to see the Blu Ray when it came out.  Now that I have all the movie channels again, I finally had my chance to see what i had missed.

And you know what I missed?  Nothing...absolutely nothing.

What a piece of shit this is.  Dull, predictable, ridiculous constant action that I never once could get into or remotely believe.

I rally don't want to even think about it anymore, as it just doesn't deserve it.

LAME!!!!!

Some silly bits, but like Kev, I enjoyed it overall.

Disappointed it didn't do that well, would have wathced the sequels.

I’m another that’s going to admit to enjoying this one and I went in expecting it to be terrible.

Also like Kevin, I remember liking the opening animated prologue which gives us the back-story. That was very well done.

Guess I'm on my own here, as I thought it looked great, based on previews, but was completely let down by the actual movie.

I did enjoy the animated prologue though, so we do share something in common.

For me, it was just so over the top in every way - cheesy, unbelievable, ridiculous action being performed by characters (actors) that in no way could do 1% of what was being done.

Even the FX, IMO were not good, didn't look real, and left me knowing damn well I was watching movie...now granted, this was a $60 Million movie, but for me, it just didn't have the look I'm looking for in a semi-potential blockbuster type flick.

I'm with you, Jeff.
Priest was a bloated kitchen sink fiasco for me.
I thought it took genre blending to ridiculous levels and did none of them justice.
Kept waiting for the story to pick an idea and run with it.
And it's the kiss of death when these kinds of movies take themselves seriously.
Which this one certainly did.

Where's Snake Plissken when you need him? ;D
