Hi

I'm back again at SS after creating a new account after maybe 6 years away? Thanks to Don, I appreciate it..

A lot of folk already know me here..

Been screenwriting for years but not written anything for over 17 months due to me having to find a day job to earn a living which hasn't left much time for anything else to be honest..

I've noticed a lot of my screenwriter acquaintances from Done Deal Pro, facebook and SS have either had some of their scripts optioned or sold, some are in pre-production, all of which has give me a kick up the butt to get back into screenwriting again. I'm friends with a few folk from SS on facebook and considered it probably the right time to return here after what happened a few years ago (I won't go into that)..

I've written or co-written about 8 feature screenplays and a bunch of shorts over the years and I don't mind showing some of these scripts to those who wish to read them.. Rather than hang them on SS folk can make a personal request for either one of my horror scripts or a thriller which were taken to 10 drafts or more and are were pretty much solid. It's always more difficult to let out co-written scripts to read especially if your co-writer doesn't wish you to let them out.. Anyways, you can always ask if you wish to read any of my material..

I'd like to slowly get back into writing, first by reading and offering notes on other people's scripts.. I may take a while before I find a script which I feel I can offer the writer or writers my opinion on their work.. Just a matter of feeling my way back in and fitting in back into the SS community without ruffling any feathers...

I'm extensively well-read both published books and I own a large screenplay library with approx 20,000 screenplays of which I've probably read 5,000 of them.. I have scripts from the early 1900s all the way up to the present day, scanned and digital.. I've also been known to reformat a lot of scripts myself using Movie Magic Screenwriter and Final Draft and have a large cache of those too..

Just hope I can offer my own brand of critique (notes) on folks work with the view this helps any of you in your own screenwriting goals...

Thanks

Good to be back

Hey Kevan

Been here about a year myself. Still learning quite a bit, and grateful for the site. Glad you've rejoined. Best of luck with the writing.

Hi Kevan,

Nice to have you back. I've only been around since last August but since then it seems to me that several previous members have returned. I can't compare with the "old days" but it seems quite active around here at the moment.

Anything of yours posted here?

cheers

Hi Andrew

No I'm not averse to letting people have access to any of my scripts... Anybody can ask me for anything and if I have what you or anybody are looking for then consider this a done deal. No problem..  ;)

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm still getting back into writing.. My problem is I refuse to write anything dramatic unless I have a concept and plan it out using Blake Snyder's Save the Cat or some other outline method first.. I've gone beyond the practice writing 1,000 words a day and prefer to write when I have something to say. This usually occurs when I have a sound concept, a title and logline and then beat it out.. But I'll get there.. I'm working on ideas at the moment so hopefully I'll get an *eureka* moment soon.. The older you get the less of these you get so when you do get one they tend to be little gems. ha! I remember writing one particular script over 10 drafts in 16 days 14 hours a day, in between meals and sleeping. It was the energy, the thrill and the rush of writing that script that forced me to write that way.. It burns you our to write like that but it is good practice to write to say a 2 week deadline to get it to 10 drafts in an allotted time..

We're not old, Pia, were seasoned veterans with years of experience and knowledge.. We can be mentors to the fresh and new folk on here.. That's what I say, anyways.. Ha..

Thanks for the welcome back, Pia.. Means a lot..

Hey Kevan,

Been a long time.  Welcome back!

No sooner had I logged once my new SS account has been verified that I received a call to go out of town for a couple of jobs so I was delayed returning to this thread.. Day jobs sure get in the way but they pay the rent I guess..

Anyhoo, nice to hook up with you again Heretic, I'll be seeking out your scripts to have a look see how you've developed since I was last here.. Looking forward to it in fact.

Thanks for the welcome back, very kind of you..

Hey Steve

If I can be of help just ask and I'll help if I can.. If you like to read one of my scripts, would like me to read one of yours or indeed would like to have a particular script from my script collection which you wish to read, just send me a PM, that's fine..

Same goes for others on the SS forum, just send me a PM request that's fine.. Particularly if you wish to get access to a particular script which may not be available on the internet any longer.. A lot of script sites and script trading ceased in June 2010 due to 20th Century Fox suing my friend the screenwriter P.J. McIlvanie but thankfully the legal proceedings was dropped. This has caused a fallout and consequently means less scripts online for folk to download.. The answer to this is ask me if I have the script in my large collection and if I do its yours.. Don't forget to include your email address in any PMs you send me so I can forward the script as an attachment for anybody who asks..

Cheers

Dena

Hey Dena

Thanks for the welcome. I appreciate it  :)

I'll check out your shorts when I can Dena and write you some notes..

If you need any help and or advice about tackling a feature screenplay and all those things which go into writing one let me know and I'll help if I can..

You can always request any of my shorts and or feature, Dena, you're welcome.. Don't forget to include your email address so I can send the script/s as attachments through the mail..

Don't worry if anybody including yourself do not wish to give your email address out I can always upload the script or scripts on my MediaFire account where you can download them via a provided link.. Same goes for anybody else, you don't have to provide me with your email address if you wish to remain private, just request in your PM for me to upload the script and provide a link - this is fine, no problem..

Thanks again, Dena..

I haven’t posted anything new here for a while. I may post Warning Shot sometime in the near future. It was a Nicholl quarterfinalist. I wrote it originally with the intention of producing and directing it myself. That hasn’t worked out. :( At this point, it looks like it’s mostly serving as a sample.

I remember you got placed in the Nichol, I remember somebody mentioning it on facebook.. Usually something which is good is good to use as a sample..

You never know you may get to direct this script in the near future. if and when you post a link to download the script I'd love to read it, Breanne...

Good title too..

Hi Hugh

Sounds good my friend, look forward to reading your work when you're ready to let it out.. Your welcome to read mine for sure.. Just ask me when you're ready..

Yeah, work, I hate it.. I'm lucky because I only work *on call*.. last week I had only had one call out which means only one paying job. Let's hope I get some more this month. I need the money! Help I'm a wage slave! I know what you're saying, Hugh...
