SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  Hi, I'm new

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the boards but have been reading some of the unproduced scripts for awhile now. I'm fairly new to script writing but have an excellent mentor in my uncle who is a screenwriting professor at a local college and has produced a couple Disney T.V. shows in his day.

I'm a therapist by trade but love the creativity and endless possibilties that go into screenwriting. I'm working on a couple film ideas at the moment but they have taken a backseat to a new television series I'm working on. Once I have the pilot done, I intend to post it on the boards here for critique.

Please remember to be kind to us new to the art!

Welcome Chris.

I hope you find Simply Scripts enjoyable, informative and a great place to make some new friends.

Best of luck on your new T.V. series.

Hi Chris - welcome on board - it'd be great if you posted some of your thoughts on the scripts you've read - new opinions are always welcome - and you'll pretty much guarantee more feedback on your stuff if you've already done likewise for others.

Enjoy!

Thanks, Shawn! I was just reading your post about Trelby and am now considering switching to it from CeltX.

Good advice, SiColl. I've noticed you're quite active in the unproduced script sections and tend to be more - shall we say - kind, compared to some other critiques there. I look forward to hearing from some of your critiques and tips once I get something decent enough to post.

Also, being new here, would my criticism of other people's work be welcomed or frowned upon? I'm a bit hesitant as I haven't exactly earned my stripes here yet.

Lots of people give ... 'reticent' opinions when new - but everyone's got to start somewhere & you ain't gonna earn them stripes on the sidelines ... so just dig in!

Trelby over Celtx. Trust me as someone who has used Celtx for three years and did not look back when I first tried Trelby.

Welcome to Simply Chris.

TV series must be the 'thing' at the moment as I've decided to give it a go too.  I look forward to reading your pilot episode.

Thanks everyone! Know what the problem with this site is? There's too much interesting stuff to read. I'm having a hard time focusing on writing my own scripts!
