I have notice quite a significant drop in the number of posts on SS lately and was wondering WHY?

Is everyone away on holidays ?

Most of the main threads have not had posts for a week or two ? Where RU all ?

It's been, for lack of a better description, fucking hot and humid where I am with no AC and I haven't been in the mood to do anything writing-related. I haven't even wanted to think about it. It's just too damn hot (although heat is fine but the 72 dewpoint is just insane).

You have to remember that most of the members range from the northern hemisphere so they're enjoying the summer months at the moment meaning more days out and holidays.

It could also be down to the lack of new material on the site at the moment which could tie into the above with Don being away at the moment?

Hasn't been that bad, has it?

I've been busy since filming Them That's Dead last weekend.  Takes a long time to watch through all the footage, sort them and mark them, getting it all ready for editing. I also have a backlog of scripts to read which I feel bad about. All that and then regular life stuff like my daughter's wedding coming up...little things like that.   :)

It doesn't get hot in the states does it ? Hee Hee

I have been to the Northern part of Western Australia and encountered 56.5 degrees Celsius.
That's about 140 Fahrenheit. Now that's hot.

I guess you guys must be out getting hammered.

When is Don back ? And when do new post start to come on line ?

Haven't alot of time lately for looking at Simplyscripts. Still trying to wrestle a feature into shape and it just won't submit. Plus, the usual long days at work, killer commute, family stuff etc etc. Only for my iPhone, I wouldn't get to read or post on SS at all.

Now that I'm gainfully employed again, I have to put a couple hours of work in each day.  I also have to spend a couple hours each day swimming, catching rays, and throwing more than a few cold ones back.

But, my biggest problem is chasing skirt and the "loads" of time necessary when a successful hunt comes to fruition.  Sometimes you go after a bird in the hand, but end up with 2 bushes...   ;D ;D

Anyways, rest assured, I just finished the final, final draft of Fade to White over the weekend and will be reposting today or tomorrow, complete with new logline. So, once that's up, you just wait to see all the posting going on.

Lol! England's having the worst summer ever...seriously.  We had more rain the other day than we usually get in the entire month.  We've not had a decent day since April so I guess we've got no excuse.

I've noticed it has been a bit quiet but I guess most members, like me, are busy with work and the like.  I've been writing but not reading enough.

There does seems to be a summer slow down. save for the organized events.
True, I haven't read as much here lately.
I've been posting and reading less SS scripts, but for good reason. ;D

That time is going to projects with industry attachments.
And doing good coverage for one of them opens doors for me. :)

So, mostly now I read off site stuff from SS folks that are putting their work in play.
It's a bummer I can't post my new material here...
But I got hired for another short, and that one I can post here before production! ;D

Regards,
E.D.

Don's too busy knocking back brew to post any new scripts. ;)

Seriously though, it's just hot and it's summer and everyone's celebrating.  It's hard to find time to write (except in "sunny" Florida, where it's rained for the past four days).
Once things cool down and people get back into the groove of hating their lives, I'm sure this place will get active again. :P

;D ;D ;D ;D

I was hating my life for far too long.  Now, I'm lovin' every minute of it.  Too many girls, too little time to even think about writing.

It's a slippery slope really. Summer slows things down on the internet and those of us who spend a lot of time in from of the computer keep hitting "refresh" on the browser but nobody posts, so we don't post. It's like watching paint dry.

Thanks All,

The general consensus it that it is Tooooooo  HHHHHooooottttt, that answers my question.

It is cold where I am so ATM it is hard to get the fingers working.

For new members on SS, this thread shows you all the regulars on SS (Most are here)
so get to know their names and be respectful of them, more than likely it will be these guys that will be reading your screenplays.
Piss them off and you're goose is cooked. Hee Hee

Wish I could say it was because of the heat  :-/

I've been away on holiday and I'm only starting to get back into my daily SS routine :)

Time, as you know:

Is compressing.

All of the excess in choices (physical, virtual, spiritual... or any name you might apply) are putting pressure upon us to make "the ultimate choice".

I don't think "the ultimate choice" is one specific choice, but one specific "intention".

Due to all of the above, I've had to make the choice to be "present" with people that needed such. I am speaking like this:

You know ladies and gents? How you make a meal for your man/lady and it's all well and good? Yes, but you don't want to just eat and drink, do you? No. You want to commune with your Beloved. ...

This same principle exists in all relationships. Mother/Son/Daughter -- Father/Daughter/Son -- Teacher/Student and on and on...

Recently, I've made the choice to spend time with ill friends rather than time with words that can wait.

I've been working on my first feature length Sci-Fi script for some time. Its roughly finished, but theres still a lot of work to be done to it before its even presentable IMO. I'll get there eventually.

Like so many others here life often interupts my writing. lol I just think people are busy and honestly times are tough for a lot of folks. I'm suprised we have time to do it sometimes.

Hello to all in SS land. I'm new to this site, been a member for a couple of weeks now. I'm currently writing my first script and would love to have anyone who can take the time to read it, give me any advice. Hoping to have it completed within a month. In the meantime I was hoping someone can point me to a scipt to read. I've already read Fade to White by Dreamscale and liked it a lot. Thanks-

Hi DV44,

Happy to do a read though please advise if it is a short or feature and what genre it is ??

I have struggled for time lately so knowing if it will be approximately 10 pages or 100 pages might give me a better idea of the time involved.

Happy to help though one word of advice read it multiple times and even get family and friends to read it first that way you clean up silly mistakes before it gets here.

Regards Alex

Thanks Alex for your response. It's horror, feature length. Running around a 115 pages right now. In the process of trimming it down right now. Hope to have it done within a month or so. Just learning to write a script for the first time. Don't know how you guys do it. It's pretty difficult but i'm having fun trying. Going to make mistakes for sure but that's why I'm posting the script on here. Seems like a lot of people give helpful advice.

I would advise that you trim that sucker down some more. Aim for 90. If you want, I can read it for you. send it to gabrielmoronta@aol.com

If you want to exchange reads, go to the script review exchange thread. Or. post on the general chat what you would like to read.

If you want something to read, Read mines. You can click on my sig. :) It's horror/dark comedy/thriller. 65 pgs.

Thanks Gabe- I'm Dirk by the way. It's running a little long because I'm trying to make a hybrid script involving a serial killer in a small town along with experiments gone bad up in the hills. It's kind of like two stories in one but I'm getting there. I need to do some more editing before I'm comfortable to send it out but I defintely will post you when I'm ready. In the meantime I'll give your story a read.

Hey Dirk,

I would suggest that you focus on one story for your first script and concentrate on your protagonist. Keep it simple. This is your first script. Naturally your going to mess up, we all do, but mess up in a way that doesn't confuse people. This is experience talking. lol.

Thanks for the advice Gabe. I hear what your saying about concentrating on one story. I hope I've done a good enough job that my story wouldn't confuse anyone. It weaves around but comes together at the end. I'll post you in a little while and i appreciate your help. I will also read your script and get back to soon.

Hi Babz,

Sorry I haven't replied earlier. In relation to your request to read my script, The Cure, I'd be more than happy to send it to you. You braved the first 5 pages already and gave me some excellent feedback on making it more visual!
