My new book, Your CUT TO: Is Showing!, is finally available for purchase on Amazon.com.  It is a complete spec screenplay formatting guide.  You can see it here

Are you instructing people to not use cut to in this book?  I ask because there is a lot of misinformation out there on using it and not using it... I've spoken to Levenberg on the issue and it's pretty cut and dry.

What's the consensus, Balt?

I for one have never used it unless it was in an early script...

Should I be?

Why do I get the feeling Alex is going to reply 'You have to buy the book to find out.' ?

Lol.  Yeah, I probably should've mentioned I was just joking.  I've actually came across the script toolbox site before on his signature.  There is some valuable information there if you get stuck on the proper way to do anything.

Yeah, that is a pretty good website.

Not sure how Don will feel about pimpin' the book on here, though.

But I will let it stand for now -- as long as it is just the one post and he refrains from spamming it around.

And I suspect he probably hadn't planned to do that anyway.

If anybody does spring for it, let us know how it is.

Wow it's 280 pages long.

Has anyone here besides Alex read it ?

No, no, just the one post, mainly because I got emails from people asking for a book of the website, and I have no idea what forum those people were from.  If it offends anyone, please take it down.

The website will stand, and it will always be free of charge.

As far as the CUT TO: in the title, I do hold by the long-standing rule that there shouldn't be a CUT TO: before each new scene heading. but I also make light of the fact I used to do so when I first started writing.  I recognize some people feel differently, and that CUT TO: before every new scene heading is fine.

I always tell people, you could go to a job interview without shaving your 5 o-clock shadow, and you might not offend the interviewer.  Or you can shave before the interview and DEFINITELY not offend the interviewer.  Like it or not, most readers simply don't like CUT TO:, so why not just avoid it and thus not have to worry about who may or may not like it.

Nope, Don says you're good, so no worries.

And best of luck with it.
