Hi guys,

I was wondering if any of you guys have downloaded and installed FD on your ipad????

The new Ipad version is writeable is now available on Ipad and is at a special price of around $31 and will go to $52 shortly.

I was wondering if IPad users have tried it and if so how does it compare with the desktop version?

I haven't tried it, but I'd imagine it would be not-as-great as the desktop version. It's probably been designed so you can still write when you're 'on the go.' So when you're sitting on a train, bus or plain you can simply whip your iPad out and continue writing in a more portable way. Just what I think.

Thanks Dan,

Exactly why I wanted it.

Take it with me everywhere and write, then transfer the files to the desktop.

Hopefully all the files are compatible and easy to transfer.

Alternatively I have considered a 10"netbook with windows 7, there are only around $200 to buy.

Yes I have it and boy I love it.

Simple, effective and I have had no problems exporting and importing into my computer.

In the absence of a laptop, this has been a real plus for me as I have the iPad with me all the time.

The options are fewer but for me that's great.

I wasn't even aware it had been released, I'll give it a butchers later and will probably snap it up.

I like the idea of writing on the go.

Thanks  Bill,

I think it is on sale untill the end of the month, though i will grab it before the price rise.

Anything that you don't like about it ?? Can you print to a PDF or does that have to be done on the computer ?

Also can you email it or parts of it as a PDF?

Too late to answer your question but one thing I have asked them to upgrade is that you can't export as a PDF, only FDX.

Maybe other apps can help, but so far I export to Dropbox then import into my computer and convert.

Obviously this means I can't write and then someone a PDF,which is a shame but actually most of the time it's just me writing, a,ending which I can do easily

May not be for everyone but I find it has really helped be write on the iPad which I always have with me.

Like now, I have a script to re read, check, etc and if I make changes I can do it now, then forward to Dropbox

Hi guys,

I bought FD for Ipad from the app store yesterday and gave it a whirl last night.

It is at $31.99 for a few more days and you alst get a $50 discount for masterwriter
over the next day or two. Need to register FD to get this.

Back to FD, I have a bluetooth  keyboard on my Ipad and it was just like using a desktop, most of the FD keyboard functions work like tab etc so found it easy to use.

Bill, you are correct and export to PDF would be handy so you dont need to transfer to the desktop. ATM this is probably the only thing I could pick on.

It is much cheaper than buying the desktop version.

I understand the good people at FD are hard-working folks like the rest of us (the rest of yous people anyway), but $30 for an app and that's on sale?? $50 for the full thing? I'd almost rather go to an antique store, buy an old typewriter, ink, and paper and hold the thing in my lap while I'm OTG than shell out all that.

Update

For those who have the iPad app, the update, which i have just downloaded, now exports PDF's.

Actually I'm surprised they did this as it makes this cheaper app very appealing compared to the real thing.

This is off subject but I didn't wanna start a new thread.

Wen I got an iPod 2 years ago, I bought a couple of screenwriting apps to try. Long story short, it was a pain trying to write on the tiny screen and both apps had a few bugs.

Fast forward to now having an IPad. I moved the apps across to it - 'just in case' - though my usual writing method is to do it by hand in a notepad then copy it to my software on the computer.

Anyway, have just started a new script and was tinkering with an index card app, as well as hand writing. Thought I would try it on one of the old apps and, wow, it has been updated and works very well!

It's called Scripts Pro, think its a couple of bucks. Very simple to use, and it exported a nice PDF when I sent an email with a few pages to Ryan. If you are looking for a cheap mobile app, the I recommend it. The latest update was in December and it is like a brand new app now

Cheers and its great to be off my arse and writing some new stuff again!

I'm debating scooping up an iPad Mini.
Does FD8 exist for that format?
If so, how does it compare and contrast?

Thanks!

dont know about the mini, but i have to say i think FD on the ipad is great. its simple, only has the basics but so far no issues with writing somethign then importing into FD proper on the mac.

in fact i like the simplicity more than the full package.
