The Cricket by Zack Van Eyck - Short, Dramedy - A young woman’s unnatural fear of insects reveals much about her true feelings for her unsympathetic husband, who is even less interested in killing a bug than he is in having true intimacy with his wife.   16 pages - pdf, format 8)

Hey Zack

I am surprised no one has commented on this yet. I saw it and thought I would have a look.

It’s a good effort. I think there is too much dialogue and it lacks a bit of direction.
Im not sure where you live but Tasmania is part of Australia, and it has the least weird animals out of all states in Australia.

Also, there isn’t much progression here. It seems to be an argument that ends up with Charlotte yelling at Dylan for his dad dying, him having cancer, and him wanting to kill himself.  Again it kind of lacks direction and doesn’t have a goal.

This is a weird script. I wasn’t actually sure what was going on, so I stopped halfway through. sorry

Best of luck

Gave this a look as it's Script of the Day (congrats!). Reading it, I kept thinking it was just one ginormous exposition dump! However, the ending tied it all together.

That said, it was still dialogue heavy and the two character's attitudes seemed a tad unrealistic at times. Also, I was left scratching my head wondering why they were looking back with obvious affection after all the things they had said to each other?!

Tonally, it felt off - part farce, part comedy, part tragedy?

Not a bad effort, just not really my thing.
