SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  Hi =)

This seems like a really helpful, creative community. I'm inspired! Anyway, just a quick hello introducing myself.

I like stories about interpersonal relationships. Things that explore or expose the human condition. This can be within any genre, drama, horror, humor, whatever.

I have a long way to go and will probably submit some really bad scripts as I attempt to create what's in my head. It's difficult to put it on paper.

Thanks to those who are helpful. I hope, in my own way, to be helpful too.

Cody

Hell yeah!

Again, a pleasure.  If you're looking for a script that explores the human condition, I highly recommend you start with "Thistles" by Mark Lyons.

Welcome Cody, SS is a decent place to learn.

Just to repeat the best way to learn here is to read and review other scripts, then compare with other reviews. Once you've done that then post work and people will return the favour

Cheers

That's the fun part :)

Post as many scripts up as you want, as the feedback received is always so helpful. And I highly recommend reading and reviewing as many other scripts as you have time to do, because not only will this increase the amount of feedback you receive on your work (as the website works on a quid pro quo basis), but reviewing other people's scripts will improve your writing dramatically, as it allows you to identify what isn't/ is working, what you don't/ do like about the work, etc.

Hope you enjoy your stay :)

Welcome aboard, Cody.

You'll find a lot of people out here who genuinely want to help you hone your craft, and a few others who will help you develop a thick skin.

Just remember, there's no absolute way to write a script.

Learn the basic format and try not to stray too far from it.

We all try to work on a quid pro quo system here.  Dive in, read a few scripts, and comment.  And when you're ready to have your script dissected, post it, others will remember you, and be happy to read it and comment.

Good luck.
