SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  October 2013 One Week Challenge  /  A Word about the OWC before posting begins
Posted by: Don, October 19th, 2013, 9:20am
Hi,

I am madly getting the scripts processed and trying to screen them as best I can to ensure they meet the key requirements - page length and witch/warlock and horror.

Note: Some folks have chosen not to enter anonymously.  That is ok.

There are a lot of new folks to the site.  I encourage everyone who participated in the challenge to please read and comment on as many of the submissions as possible.  If you are not registered for the discussion board, email me at webmaster @ simplyscripts.com .

There were 55 entries.  That is a record for entries.  Some are being held until after the challenge as they did not meet the requirements.

Lastly, I had one truly anonymous entry - no email address.  I can't post that script, so would "Michael Maguire" please send me an email with a longline for your script, I will post it.

Full listing of the OWC scripts

Thanks for all your work, Don, this must be a pain. 55 is a great sign of health for the site, great work.

Very much appreciated, Don.  I wasn't able to submit a script (blast my work schedule and poor time management skills) but I'll try and review as many as I can.

55...wow.

Very cool and very impressive that all the scripts are already posted and all were posted together, at the same time.  Hopefully, this will allow each script to get the same attention.

Today looks to be a reding day, so away we go!

I've been a bit quiet on this challenge -- in a very busy place these days, for the next few weeks, with almost no free time.

I do not have an entry, and there are WAY too many threads to monitor with any regularity.

Please do not hesitate to alert the moderators to any trouble spots that you see developing -- particularly with so many new folks running around.

Thanks!

The 55 entries is impressive indeed (as is the expediency with which they were posted). Congrats to everyone who submitted and made this one extra special. Also thanks to Don as always. I think the openness of the theme is such that many have been hankering for in a Halloween OWC for some time and I suspect why so many peeps came out of the woodwork this time around.

This is my first OWC in three years so rest assured I will be reading many (if not all) scripts in the near future. Perhaps I'll get started tomorrow; Renn Faire today.

Thanks Don.

I can safely read these entries knowing full well I didn't write jack shit. lol.

No pressure. Good luck to all. :)

Top effort Don!  It's 0430 am here. Woke to check football scores.  Villa don't play till Sunday lol!

Will read a few before work in the morn!

I think the email that Don sent out to us encouraged the members hiding in the woodwork to come out and join in on the fun.

Nicely done.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have 48 scripts to read.  Actually, 47.  I already know how one of them ends.

Will take a lot of time to get through 400-500 pages, but we'll see how it goes. Nice turnout. Good luck everyone!

Wow so many entered! Great job Don. Now for a "dumb" question, is it okay to review scripts even though you were unable to complete your own?

That's how you earn big levels of respect, Hugh. Getting the reads and reviews out there, without a horse in the race. If only everyone were so awesome... =)

Good one, Mark!  :P

Don - quick question (and apologies if it's already been asked - I just can't slog through all these posts!) When's the reveal and the voting?  I figure - probably later than usual, given the large amount of entries...?

Cheers,

I got twenty more of these to review.
Voting on Monday works for me.

We voting on "most entertaining to read" story (screw format), "best screenplay" (story + format worship), or whatever we want to vote for (anything with some actual horror in it! LOL!)?
