Justin Timberlake, Gemma Arterton, Ben Affleck...what could possibly go wrong?

How about everything.  This movie just flat out sucks the high hard one in pretty much every way possible.

Director Brad Furman plays this all for reals, but in reality, Brian Koppelman and David Levien's script is a complete joke.  Every angle, plot point, character, and action is just silly and so unbelievable.  On top of all that, it's just so dull, cliche, buy the numbers, and completely predictable.

And then, for some reason, we have an R rating tacked on baed on characters saying fuck every 4 minutes, with little to no R rated violence, and zero sex/nudity.  Really?  Yeah...really.

I'm shocked this thing didn't bomb harder, because God knows it should have.  A $30 Million budget somehow was made up on World Wide grosses of $63 Million.

Don't be decieved, though.  This doesn't look, feel, or smell like a $30 Million movie.  It's much more akin to a cheap DTV "thriller" that's so far from thrilling.

I'm appalled this type of garbage is being turned into wide screen release material, attracting big name talent.  Any 17 year old kid could write this same thing and chances are they'd add something that would make it more entertaining than Koppelman and Levien did.

This movie sucks and has zero repeat viewing potential.

as a poker player and fan - this is a shame.

I guess I'll just have to keep rewatching Rounders.

which is a very good movie.

Have you seen The Grand?  Or High Roller?  Not as good as Rounders, but worth the watch.

Shockingly, Koppelman and Levien wrote Rounders as well.  And, they wrote Ocean's Thirteen.

The writing on display here is piss poor, bordering on emabrrassing, as far as I'm concerned.

Rounders is a very good movie. Very re-watchable too.

I saw The Grand but didn't like it.

Wow really?  Ocean's 13 wasn't anything special either.  Crazy shit, huh?  Oh well.

Even so, it was still better than About Time.

Mind you, I'm getting the feeling I'm saying my dead horse is more dead than yours.

Definitely a trainwreck!

At least you can look forward to Wolf Creek 2. It's out in Oz as of last week. :)

Wolf Creek 2...YES!!!  I'm very exited...one of my all time faves, just for how it worked so damn well.

Lib...you seen it yet?  I didn't know it was out already.

Seeing it soon. It's been out here just a few days. I just hope it lives up to the original. Mixed reviews so far, so fingers crossed.

I've read bits of mixed reviews so far, but I'm going to reserve judgment. Still got my fingers crossed it'll be better at least than a lot of the recent horror fare. Anyway, someone might have liked Runner Runner'  ;D ::) so I'll save any further discussion of WC2 for another thread.
