What do you do if you've been working on a script for over a year, have revised it several times, and are close to getting it perfected, only to find out that someone has had a similar idea that has already been produced?

To elaborate, I've been working on a television pilot called Glitch. It's about video game characters who come out of the television and into the real world. They cause chaos, learn human experiences, fall in love, and more.

It has been recently brought to my attention that there's a web series about a guy who enters the video game world and game jumps, kind of like Tron mixed with Wreck it Ralph. It's not too well known, but it was only released last year.

Are the two projects too similar? Should that keep me from continuing with my script?

Don't worry about it.  You're script, God willing, won't be produced for at least a couple years from now.   Providing you finish it, polish it, shop it around and actually land a deal.

I read it btw, it's got some comedic moments, but needs work.  I like the Patriots.  

You read it? It does still need work. I've made quite a few edits since I posted it last. It's slowly getting to it needs to be, but I still have a ways to go. It is my first real script after all :)

Seems like you could let us get to know Daniel a little bit more before you introduce the Patriots.   Also, you might wanna tone down the unfilmables in the character descriptions a bit.  Show don't tell.

One last thing and these are just my opinions.   Ditch the Scrib'd, get Celtix, convert script to pdf and submit it properly.  Makes for a better read and you're more likely to get feedback.

When you talk about unfilmables, do you have any particular examples of where I did that? I wanted to give a little back story into their personalities to help their actions make more sense.

When they start accepting scripts again on the 14th, I will submit it properly. I do use Celtx, but only posted a link to the first 10 pages. Is there a better way to link directly to a pdf?

Personally I like unfilmables, but the example below is a way TMI.  Defintely should tone it down.
