SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Getting to know you, getting to know all about you...  /  Hello everyone

I'm new here. Well, I've been on for a few days. Looking forward to engaging with the community.
I have already posted to the discussion board a couple of times reviewing the Unproduced Script of the day. Then I noticed that occasoinally the other posts to the Unproduced Script of the day were all months old. Obviously a script can be randomly selected more than once. I suppose if it hasn't been rewritten since its previous selection then no one takes the time to add any comments. Am I getting the jist of it?
Is there a thread somewhere that holds all the tribal knowledge about this site?

Hey Wes -

Welcome to SS!  (Again, if I happen to have posted that previously in the last few days...)  :)

The Unproduced Script is randomly generated (Don, please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.)  The reason why you'll often find a huge time gap in the thread, is that it's possible and likely for the random generator to pick up older scripts.  Usually, unless a script is absolutely beyond belief popular, the thread and comments will occur when it's originally posted and then eventually fade away as people move onto other, newer reads.  Doesn't mean the script isn't great...  just that there's tons of material on this site, and old makes way for new.

No reason that you particularly have to review scripts of the day.  You can also browse the board categories here, and look for scripts of interest: http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?

Near the top of the board, there are a few FAQ Stickies, too, for acquainting yourself with the site.  Though, asking other members works too.  :)

Hope this helps,

The best tip use the Portal button - this gives you a snap shot of what is active

Hi Wes

I would say observe the portal and review shorts where the writer is active. Can do the same with features too...but time consuming to read a feature if you have not connected with the person.

Good luck!

Welcome and all that.

There's not a lot of point in reviewing older scripts unless the author is still about.

That said there's no harm in it either.

As with most things the focus here tends to be on the new and the shiny. I'd make some smartarse comment or deep philosophical point about this, if I could be arsed. I can't as I've got to find my shoes. I left them somewhere.
