Hi all.  My name is Tim and I'm a writer.  It feels really good to say that.  Also, slightly disingenuous at this point, as I have far more ideas than actual, completed scripts.  However, I hope to soon remedy that.  I'm looking forward to getting some good advice here and making a contribution.  Thanks for having me.

Welcome to SS, Tman.

You'll find lots of advice here - some you may not even want to hear.  ;D

A couple of pointers for you:

Go to the Portal if you want to know what's happening on SS.
Recent Posts is also helpful.

And, read and critique other people's work, then you'll be sure to get to know other SS members and they'll be happy to critique your work in return. Starting with the 'shorts' section is a good place to start and depending on how much time you can devote take a look at the feature length scripts in the different categories i.e., Thriller, Comedy, Series etc.

Look forward to reading something of yours.

Perish the thought. Everyone here is so polite and well mannered. You may be able to detect the sarcasm there. If not, you'll have picked up hints of it.

Hope you have fun here. Good luck with your work.

as we always say, the best way to improve is to read, review, and use that in your writing.

Thanks all.  I've always been passionate about story telling and I'm hoping to make a career out of it.  I know that there will be many difficulties, including where to live.  I plan to move to LA and so far it's been rough.  I started by looking at a few places in Burbank, and no.  Just no.  The whole area just seemed very, stale and out of touch.  Heck, I couldn't even find the Buy More.  No offense to anyone living there, just a personal opinion.

Today's venture was Studio City and Sherman Oaks, more what I was looking for but it costs an arm and a leg, and maybe a second leg.

I'll probably try West Hollywood next, but I am considering looking for a room to rent.  It's stressful stuff.

As far as writing goes I only have 2 spec scripts I wrote for a tv show.  However, as I said before I have loads of ideas.  Some of them have been lurking in my head for years and some are more recent.  For example, I read about the Industry Insider contest and it sparked a great idea in my head already.  I believe I will make it my first attempt at a feature length script.  I'm also hoping to take a class at a college or film school to hone my skills and learn new ones.
