Apparently the pros struggle with endings big time.

It was interesting.

I asked a question about endings not long ago, it's goods to see that even the best filmmakers have to film a few versions, or play with edits to try and make things work.

To this day, I still love the original (alternate) ending for "Die Hard With a Vengeance". A bonus of that is if they had rolled with it, there never would have been "Live Free or Die Hard" or "A Good Day to Die Hard". Big-time missed opportunity.
