SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Screenwriting Class  /  Are you a screenwriter looking for a manager?
Posted by: ScriptsandScribes, April 5th, 2016, 7:49pm
Hey All,

If you happen to be looking for a manager, I recently interviewed two of them for my podcast and at the end of their respective interviews, both managers mentioned they would be happy to read queries and questions from Scripts & Scribes listeners.  They’re both legit managers with current sales and have clients at all the big agencies and have offered to take your queries and questions.

Here’s the info:

The first is Trevor Engelson of Underground Films.  We just released this one yesterday.

If you’d like to listen to his podcast interview, you can check it out here.

http://www.scriptsandscribes.com/2016/04/podcast-trevor-engelson/

At the end, Trevor says to mention the Scripts & Scribes podcast in your query or question and he’ll take a look.  He gives out his email address, but if you didn’t catch it, it’s firstname@undergroundfilms.net.

I didn’t put the actual email here, so the spambots don’t scoop it up, but you should be able to figure it out.

The other is Jesse Silver of Mindframe Films.

Jesse’s email is firstname@mindframe-films.com. Again, replace the beginning with his first name.  He said on the podcast to email him any queries and/or questions you may have.

Also, on a side note, lit manager Kailey Marsh (creator of the Blood List) mentioned on Twitter recently that she was looking for a good action writer to add to her client list.  She said later that she got really good submissions, but perhaps she’s still looking.  You can tweet or email her your pitches.  Her email address is on the second tweet.

If you want to know more about Kailey, we did an interview with her last year.

NOTE TO WRITERS:  These managers have graciously offered up their email addresses and said they would look at queries/pitches from our listeners.  This does not mean they will respond to all of them.  Just a heads up.  They might not respond at all… but at least they will be actively looking at your queries (like a pitch fest, but free!).

GOOD LUCK!!!

*HI MODS: All three managers openly gave out their email addresses, so hopefully this isn’t breaking any protocol. I know this might be a little spammy, but I thought this could be genuinely useful to writers looking for representation. Not sure if this is the right subforum and if not, please feel free to move.  Thanks!!

It does appear a bit spam-like, but upon reading, I think this may have value for those interested.

I only pop on here to toss up Don's usual caveat emptor that this information in no way constitutes an endorsement by SimplyScripts.

Cheers S&S, and welcome to the boards.

The exact same message was on Facebook yesterday. Don't know if it's spam or not, maybe just getting the word out.

I'd call it spam too. Like Bert though, I feel that it may be good for somebody somewhere.

I'm not going to go looking though... within another year or two I should have a pretty decent portfolio, as in things done that I'm not ashamed to show people.

Thanks Bert!  Glad to be here!

Yes, we posted all over about this.  We get questions all the time from writers wanting to know of any agents or managers who will read their query/pitch (without having to pay for a pitchfest deal) and so we thought this was worth sharing.  The response has been tremendous.  I haven't spoken with Trevor yet, but both Jesse and Kailey have said they've been getting tons of submissions (and they are pleased with the response - hoping for that diamond in the rough so to speak).

We do recommend Simply Scripts to writers all the time and have a link on our site too.  You guys have a great resource that I personally use all the time, so THANKS!  I didn't know you had a forum though until just recently.

And lastly, just an FYI, Scripts & Scribes is not a for profit resource.  We do have an ad before the podcast once in a great while -- to keep the lights on -- but other than that (and the random google ads on the website), we are not script consultants or paid readers and we don't sell any classes, books or services of any kind.  We never charge listeners of the podcast or readers of the website any fees at all.  Everything we offer is free of cost to our audience (like what you do here!)  :)
