We should have the "other" category again for scripts that don't easily fit another genre. Would be a good place to find any experimental or subversive scripts.

Not a fan of categories for shorts. It'll result in less shorts being read. As of right now, the single thread is where all the action is.

Personally don't read read shorts in genre's I'm not a fan of anyway, not sure the new cats will change that but may make it easier for producers to find what they are looking for.

Don - will the existing shorts get placed into the new categories?

I would probably use the generic shorts category for 'other' short scripts.

Sorry to hear that, Tony. I thought since Shorts were so popular that splitting them out would be more helpful.  This was done in response to filmmakers looking for shorts to produce.  Let's see how it goes.  Worst case, I can create a check box that sez, Despite being "Short, Horror, Financial" I'd like this placed in the generic "Short" section.

Anthony, on the main site this has already been done.  I kinda don't think it will happen on the discussion board as there are a shit ton of short scripts and they are a pain to move.  ONce the OWC is over, any new short submitted will be placed on the discussion board in one of the new categories.

Dave, as mentioned to Anthony, I will put newly submitted scripts into the categories. What I'd like to do with existing shorts is have writers resubmit them a few at a time after the OWC has closed.

The first phase of The Great Purge has been completed with the removal of 1407 scripts from the database.  The second phase of The Great Purge will be a couple of years in the making whereby I will message writers based on date of script submission to see if: 1) email address still works, 2) they are aware they still have a script on the site,  and 3) do they want to keep it there or revise and resubmit.

I love this change! Always wondered why there's no such thing for shorts. Will ease up my search for the right short to read. Otherwise I end up not reading at all - knowing that most of them are just thrilling thrillers does not help.

Sounds like a sensible approach - thanks
