Hi Everyone,

My name is Gary, I am 56, from the UK.... I am way out of my comfort zone here. New to writing anything, let alone trying to understand the format of writing scripts,  software and finding my way around this site lol. Recent events in my life, have given me the urge to write things that are flowing around in my head so a friend suggested writing scripts. That's what I'm going to do. Also looking forward to meeting other like minded writers and reading their scripts on here.

Welcome, Gary. This is a great place to start, and continue, your journey.  Read, read, read! So many scripts on here by so many talented writers. When you're ready, jump in and post your comments  on a few. That way, when you're ready to post your work, you'll likely get return reads from those people. And others. Again, welcome on board!

Hi Gary

Don't you fear many, including myself, have turned up here with little knowledge, but a desire to write.

As recommended above, the best way to get a flavour is to read scripts, then read the reviews and see whether you agree, or not.

Format is important but can be learnt quickly.

Peronsally, I find asking myself the following questions helps with putting a script together.

Who's story is this?

What is the script trying to say?

And what genre is it?

All the best

Oh, the other tip I have for this site, if you haven't used it already, is to use the 'recent threads ' button at the top of the page, used to be called the portal.

This shows all the active threads and is easier to navigate.

Thanks for the review, I'll come back to that later.

Hey. Welcome Gary. Have fun here!

Libby, why "Gaza"? Some special Aussie word?)

Gary = Gazza
Barry = Bazza
McDonalds = Maccas

Ad infinitum

Jeepers that eye still scares the hell outta me, Kham!  :o

I'm so glad though you didn't use the infected bowel. Not sure my heart... or stomach could take it.

Anyway, you know what, K, I was just about to correct you and say you need to spell it with a double 'z' and then realized you were just quoting the mistake my stupid tablet made.

Gazza is indeed part of Aussie slang, same with Bazza (Barry) -

... Oh, I see my Aussie mate, Ben (smartarse) has beaten me to the punch.  ;D NB: arse not 'ass'.  ;D

We have something like that in Russian.

Ok, well, got rid of the eye - sigh, oh the pressure( ))

Sorry to hijack your thread, Gazza but...

Ah, that's better K.
And, I love black cats! Beautiful pic of you both. :)

P.S. For Gary's benefit, what is it in Russian?

My apologies to Gary as well.

I can't do it to "Gary" because there's no such Russian name.

But let's take a name you definitely know - Boris.

We'll call Boris - Borya. Or Borka.

Nikolay - Kolya. Kolyan for someone very cool. His mother may call him Kolyushka.

It's different with every name.

My daughter's name is Aliya. We call her Alya. Or Alka.

Thanks for the tip Bill on threads.  Thank you to all who have welcomed me. Gary, Gazza or Gaz I'm easy. One small request so I know I am going in the right direction. I would love some feedback on my first script which is on the discussion board titled: Cries of Courage. Once again thanks to all.

Welcome aboard, Gary.

As others have mentioned, the more you give, the more you'll get.

Enjoy.
