Another fun visit to the Star Wars Universe.

Quite emotional at times, although it played it safe most of the time.

Interesting to see some old faces back, albeit some are CGI.

No crazy plot holes, but no real genius either, except perhaps the new droid.


I would have liked to have seen more alien faces as main characters. The main antagonist was slightly dull, but all in all another success.

One thing that stood out was how really good actors can elevate any script to a more profound level. Mads Mikkelsen was barely on the screen but his acting chops provided the skeleton to make it all work. In less capable hands some of the dialogue felt cooky .

Gareth Edwards did a decent job, but his films somehow consistently lack a certain magic.

Time to start taking a few more risks. Just being in the Star Wars Universe is great, but got to let the handbrake off soon.

By the way, there was a book released called Rogue One:Catalyst on November  15th .

Like all Star Wars films, you'll have a better experience if you read it. There isn't enough time to develop characters in these films. Or, more correctly, filmmakers have lost the art of introducing multiple characters with depth and recognisabilty. The writers in the extended universe frequently have to do it for the filmmakers. It definitely helps here, even if that's a bit Star Wars geek for most.

Absolutely loved it. Better than Episode VII for sure. I do have some minor complaints (CG Tarkin, an underwhelming score, it doesn't find its footing until the second half, one cameo that is virtually pointless), but I'm willing to forgive all this because it's trying to do something new. Granted, I wish they took even more risks but since this is such a huge franchise, Disney is going to take baby steps. Hopefully this weekend's box office numbers will encourage them to go crazy.

In a way, this movie strengthens A New Hope (and creates a few minor inconsistencies). See it in Imax and have a blast.

Agreed about the droid.

That is the future the franchise needs to take: invent a slew of exciting new characters who are Star Wars, but not just homages to the past.

i preferred episode v11 by a long way

the lead girl didn't do anything for me and i didn't really get the father:daughter pain. in fact a couple of scenes made me think, 'you what...'

but hell, i would still go and see what happens next, but i look forward to the proper film as the next instalment.

Keen to see this (and Assasins Creed) a rare foray to the cinmea for me lol. My wife is indignant - 'you didn't see the new one last year' blah blah. My reply is that this one is more of a SW than that one.

As someone who saw the original in the cinema as a kid I'm entitled to pick and choose from the rubbish! LOL

Bad main character. Good fighter battles. Slow beginning. Got my monies worth with a pretty good tie-in ending.

Wasn't expecting much from a movie that really shouldn't have been made at all. Got a bit more than expected. Prefer to see a stand alone in the SW universe.

Don't agree that it played it safe - they killed off EVERY main character in a Disney film!

Funny how that expectation seems to have sooo much to do with how much you enjoy something or not.
