Me and  Mrs. Eldave got this film when we were in Tahoe.

I HATED it. A real disappointment. There are so many WTF moments and failures in logic that you give up half way through. Tom Hanks - I had such high hopes. Sad.

Poor Gump. His run was long, what can one say?

The blurb/synopsis sounds like it'd be right up my alley. Shame to hear it's not much chop in your view.

I'm curious, why did it not live up to its premise?

I thought Hanks was great in Captain Phillips and in Bridge Of Spies.

Dave, all that sounds like script/plot probs.

Well, after you see it we can compare notes. The main problems for me:

- There was a B story that was tortuously illogical and then they totally dropped it from the end of the movie - like it never existed.

- One implausible WTF plot point after another.

- The acting was actually fine. The absence of sane logic was irritating.

It currently has a 16% rating on rotten tomatoes. Not sure how it got that high

Aha. Okay. I hope it doesn't disappoint like Nicholas Sparks - soap opera in Space, Passengers.  ::)

We'll see...

Thanks Dave.

I've read the terrible reviews, but still am thinking about seeing today, as there isn't anything else at the theater I remotely want to see...and I get a free popcorn for my Birthday month, and the rest of the month is shot with a trip to Vegas, and a business trip.

We'll see...

Well, hope you like it better than I did

I literally HATED it!  Easily one of the very worst non horror wide screen releases.

Ths is a very strange movie, first of all.  It does not follow any normal structure or flow, no standard plot or story, either. It's even filmed rather strangely, with many very poorly lighted scenes and the a ton of scenes with texting and the like playing over the "action"...or lack of action.

The premise itself has some potential, but the execution here is just laughable...that is if you can keep your eyes open the entire time.  The plot choices are beyond amateur.  The whole big picture is absurd, as in the world being seen through the eyes of a child.

Maybe more importantly, it's downright dull, boring, and plodding.  It's an hour and fifty minutes long, but honestly felt like 2 and half hours, at least.  There's really only 1 action scene and first of all, it's ridiculous, and secondly, it's extremely obvious how it's going to play out.

This is a true stinker and I'm shocked at the level of talent, as well as an $18 Million budget.  No reason to see this other than to witness how shitty a professional screenplay can turn out.

Grade - F
