Thanks, Don!

I attended a great class today about building a complete story world in order to market your script to its fullest potential from the very first pitch.

I recorded most of the class so I'll go through it later and post the relevant gems for everyone here.

Don,

This was a great weekend that totally stoked my fire to write and write until my fingers bleed.  Well maybe not that much, but close.  I can't thank you enough.

I attended 5 classes this weekend and I didn't pitch at all since I didn't have a script ready to pitch, and some of the wisdom I got in one of the classes steered me in the direction of not pitching until I had some thing ready.

The classes I attended were:

  • SUPER STORIES STUDIO WORKSHOP- Talks about Transmedia (The various methods and mediums to disperse your story into the marketplace)
  • ROCKET FUEL FOR YOUR CREATIVE CAREER - Talks about killing your inner critic and methods of finding material that is near and dear to your heart to write about.
  • VIRTUAL REALITY STORYTELLING - Talks about some VR stuff.
  • WORDS OF FILMMAKING WISDOM - Imagine all the discussions we have on here about how things are really done.  These guys had the answers.  Probably the best class of the weekend.
  • THE ANTAGONISTS JOURNEY - Danny ended up reading his handout most of the time and never really got into the meat of the subject like I had hoped for.  There were some good tidbits of knowledge, and he knows what he's talking about, but I had hoped for more.

Most of the classes were 90 minutes long, which will take...well...90 minutes to re-listen to, so if anyone has a preference on which one you'd like to hear about first, just let me know.

Great you had an awesome weekend!  8)

I'd be curious about the VR writing class. I've had a few producers ask me lately if I could write them VR scripts. I have absolutely no idea how to do that or how they are different to regular scripts.
