Think I just got through the first 30 minutes of what has to be the worst movies of all time. Saw it on Netflix and was enamored with the cast. Colin Farrel, Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer, Athony Hopkins, etc.

Grabbed the popcorn and settled in. OMF effing God - what a train wreck of a movie. So many flaws  would take a doctoral thesis to go over them all. Out at the 40 minute mark and embarrassed for lasting that long most comically of which as despite the fact that they were involved in years of battle in Asia, Persia et al - they were all pale white with perfect teeth and clean shaven faces.

Ugh!!!!

PS - checked rotten tomatoes afterwards - 16% - not sure how it scored that high.

Have you seen the 1956 Richard Burton version? That is supposed to be boring too.

At the time there were two rival projects in development. This and a version with Leo DeCaprio and Nicole Kidman. That was supposed to be directed by Buz Lhurmann.

However, this one was made first and the other one was later canceled.

This is a bad movie. But, the version released in theaters was like 2 hours and 20 min. Stone later released a version that was almost 4 hours long.

It was a very ambitious and talked about movie, at the time. Which flopped. Epics were in then, due to the success of Gladiator.

Yes - I attempted to watch the extended version - from my view - it was 3 hours and 46 minutes too long.
