I disagree. Merely reading does very little or nothing at all. Assimilating and adapting is the key, and for that, you need the skill of comprehension and knowledge of grammar. But even if you do have that, you still need experiences and knowledge of various subjects and you also need to develop one more skill; that of doing research and enjoying it.

I haven't read any books on screenwriting, and I think it shows. But I will watch screenwriters talking about their methods and what not.

Plus there is that old saying - those who can't, teach.

Horribly misleading title:

The One Trick to Becoming a Screenwriter

It isn't a trick or magic potion and it ain't "the" one. 5 minutes dedicated to if you want to write screenplays is about is compelling as if you want to write songs, listen to songs.

i.e., the "trick" kind of goes without saying.

The BEST trick of all is to know someone in the industry that can put your script in front of the right person/people.

Yeah, a pretty obvious "trick" that took 4 minutes 30 seconds to articulate. The title is obviously clickbait which worked for at least 6 of us anyway.

Agree - Probably click bait.

At least everything Tom offers is free (nothing really compelling and somethings just wrong IMO - but free).

I am still waiting to see WesleyV post in other areas. So, far - pitching or responding to Tom's stuff is all he has done some I am weary of intent.

I just saved myself a click and 5 minutes of my life. Love this forum - thanks.

True, but there is not much reason to let that fact pull your hopes down. The people who work for all these big people are ecstatic about finding a good script and taking it to their bosses.

One's concern should be to get it noticed by spending as less money as possible.
