Oh, you mean this wasn't on?  :-/

We'll I'm not going through all that again, so here's the short version.

Hi everyone, I'm Frank. I've got some experience writing incredibly technical stuff, but even in that realm it helps to be good at telling a story. Trying to learn storytelling got me bitten by the bug to tell some entertaining stories that have been rattling around in my head for far too long.

This looks like the perfect place to get help putting stories in a form that other people can understand. And I also like being able to give helpful feedback on others' works in progress.

So many stories too little time. Good luck getting them all down. Which one are you going to start with?

Thanks for the welcome, Marty and Dustin.

The one story that's more than just a collection of notes is Holly, for which I've yet to come up with a pithy logline. It's intended as a family film and would probably work best animated. The story is set in a faux-medieval world and has its share of princesses, but no magic.

I'd like to offer a couple script reviews before I start asking for any serious help with Holly. Some elements of the script have been much more challenging than I anticipated, like calling out a non-villain character for bad/insensitive behavior and dealing with fictional ethnic groups.

Frank,

Looking forward to reading some of your future work.

In the meantime, if you're stuck and need some advice, the My Work in Progress section is a nice forum to ask questions and for suggestions and help. Most of us are here to help one another so don't be afraid to ask for help or pointers.

All the best,
Marty

Well, I've already almost started a fist fight in Screenwriting Class, so looks like I'm off to a good start.

The opening part of my current script needs about 5 or 6 pages to actually make sense. If that's not too long for My Work In Progress then I might post something there to attract some constructive (and/or withering) criticism.

Frank,

Post a thread about it over in My Work In Progress with a link to your work and if others want to step in and give you a hand they will.

All the best,
Marty

Welcome aboard.

I'd love to see traditional, hand-drawn animation make a comeback one of these guys. That being said, Pixar has been hitting home runs for almost 25 years.

Hope you enjoy it here.

Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!

Thanks. The story in my head is hand-drawn cel animation, but in the real world it probably would end up looking like a modern Pixar or Dreamworks picture. To my knowledge, all cel-style animation coming out nowadays is CGI anyway, nothing hand-drawn  :(
