Wanted a mindless horror to watch last night so I settled on this massive piece of crap.

Definitely do not watch this for any entertainment value.

The reason I bring it up though is that I don't think that I've seen a better example of what on the noise dialogue looks and sounds like on screen.

This film is literally littered with it.

So, as an example of exactly what not to do and how bad expositional diagolue is, you should definately take a look.

Reminded me of another film. Saw the first hour or so of Thor: Ragnarok on a plane, and kept thinking to myself “if I took out the on-the-nose dialogue it would be a silent film.”

Then the plane landed and I have not been sufficiently motivated to catch the rest of the movie.

(The gag with the rotating chains was entertaining, but after the first couple minutes it just insulted the audience’s intelligence)

I have seen Thor: Ragnarok, and that may well be the case. I didn’t particularly pick up on it and that’s maybe because at least there is always something happening visually. I’m also a huge Marvel fan.

In Most Likely To Die, the cast literally sit around and talk about the entire backstory (constantly) and how they are feeling and nothing else is happening, it's painful to watch.

I picked up on it in Thor because I'm fairly new to screenwriting and am on the lookout for things like that.

I'm curious how Most Likely to Die rates on the OTN scale compared to The Man from Earth. A couple things were hinted at before they were said outright, but so much of it was just people sitting around talking directly about what happened off screen.

Well you only need to watch about the first fifteen minutes or so to really get a sense of what I mean, it is constant throughout though.

The setup is a high school reunion of sorts, when all the people have arrived at the house they sit around a table and for a solid few minutes just spew out the backstory.

Sounds... horrific.

Just watched this.  You're correct, Warren...unreal amount of OTN dialogue and it's not just to set things up, it goes on and on throughout the entire movie.

It's definitely not a good movie, by any means, but as bad horror slasher movies go, this is actually not that bad, IMO.

It's shot well, and looks good.  The FX are pretty decent most of the time.  Although the reveal is pretty dumbass, nothing is obvious about who the killer is.

Gotta say though, the very end is redonkulous.  What in the world are they trying to say with that final shot?
