SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Writing Opportunities and Call for Scripts  /  Seeking Talented [Ghost] Writers

We are a small independent newly started production company based in France and Scandinavia.

We are going to produce a conscious short film with a strong female lead. With this short we want to empower women in more leading roles within a strong story arch.

The script is already written but we want to add another strong backstory layer to our main written story. Unfortunately time is not on our side so we are looking for a ghostwriter to complete the task for us.

Our criteria is that the writer must be a professional that has stellar writing, can focus writing about two main characters with organic motivations, crisp dialogue, rich subtext, tackles various theme and have a plot that's unpredictable.

You must be able to show us some written works you have already done. Flat fee contract will be presented and negotiated. Thorough notes with criteria and premise will be given. We hope to have a fluid collaboration with the chosen writer for future project as well.

We have set a one week deadline for the final product with a maximum limit of 8-10 pages. We are hoping to hear from many writers as possible.

Thank you.

One week deadline?

Sounds like an OWC.

In joke btw.

Noticed there's a competition called that here yes, but this is not it:)

Didn't quite understand your last line there sir LC. To be precise this is not a joke and we do not devalue people's effort and time as a writer either. There's always room for communication if the time limit isn't fair.

Why "ghost" writer? Why not a writing credit??

Because this time we are only looking for a ghost writer for this task.

As explain on the ad; the story is already written but we just need a writer to fine tune the backstory in the direction we want. So for now we are only looking for a writer we could collaborate with (as there is a writer already written the story) to do that, and then maybe in the future [who knows] it will be a written credit on a completely different story we might collaborate on. You can say this is our way of building a relationship.

I hope I answered your question? :)

Yeah - it answers the question I guess.  The premise is an odd one - for me anyway.

You already have a writer and a already have a 10 page script with a strong female lead with and a strong story arch. You have a week to find a writer, read and review their work, negotiate a contract, have them do the re-write.

Never going to happen within a week.  Hope I'm wrong.

It's also not going to make sense to writers here why you would need a ghostwriter to modify something that is only ten pages to start with (i.e., vs. having the original writer make the changes).  What it seems like is that you have a bad script with a good premise and you need someone to write a good script based on that premise.  Not going to get many responses here for that I think - especially as an un- credited effort. Again - hope I am wrong and that you succeed.

Oscar J,

Why not have the original writer rewrite it like Dave said?

Btw I sent you a link to a script when you originally requested one in another thread. Would have been cool for you to at least acknowledge it with a polite 'not for us'....

Seem I can't reply direct to your post.

I'm sorry the premise is odd for you, but there's many reason why we choose to do it this way. Most people tend to to get stuck on negative things [not saying you are] from the start and that's a trend I notice someplaces here in the forum. I appreciate your feedback but in some case in that feedback of yours your just speculating about things I haven't said or written at all. Yes ofcourse everything might not be for everybody. But trust that some people know what they are doing and what they are after.

I further explain in the post that the time limit would be discussed with the right writer so it's not fixed only one week. That's just something we have set. IMO one week is nothing if you are talented and have all the criteria, guidelisens, notes and a story already written to work from.

There's many other platforms which I could've gone on and get this done with but I choose to do it here because I myself started here a long time ago and knows there's alot of potential with lots of writers ready to network. Sometimes we just have to take a different route to get where we want in life.

Be positive and trust the process.

There is a reason why and that's something we do not wish to discuss on here.

I'm sorry if I didn't reply to you. It must've flown over my head. I know how annoying it is myself to not get a reply after putting down a interest in something. But unfortunately [If I remember your project correctly] we are looking in different direction and genre at this moment. Maybe who knows in the future if our company vision is going quite well we might take in stories with bigger budget.

Thank you for reaching out to me though and I wish you best of luck with your project.

Hey Oscar,

No problem, I understand that we all get busy.

How much is your budget for the assignment?

And there are plenty of talented writers here - maybe look at some of their work and contact them directly?

Hello again AJR,

We have set a limit of 200$. At first we didn't want to mention the salary because we don't want people to just come in and do this for money's sake. Like I said it is about building a relationship and get that creative teamwork going between us rather the thought of quick buck earnings.

Yes thank you for your suggestion. I just don't have time contacting every writer on here. Hopefully those interested will see this post:)

I hope you find a writer you can work with here. Plenty of talent around. I also forwarded this link to a friend of mine who might be suitable for the job.

Usually we get people asking for free work, but credit, so this time is different for sure. No credit, but money.

Good luck with the project!  :)

PS: Where in Scandinavia are you?

Thank you for that miss Angry Bear. It's much appreciated:)

Yes, this time we go the other way around. I personally never forget those I collaborate with.
We are located in København and Stockholm:)
