I want to try out a new professional crew here in my town. I also want to practice directing more, so looking for a talky piece in one or so locations. I would like for it to have an adult black female in it. I have an actress that can be very colorful. I would love something that has perhaps a tarot card reading in it or something like it. Maybe even voodoo, but not necessary.

Anyone got anything like that sitting around on their hard drives?  :)

Hmmm... I've only got one that comes anywhere close. Very dialogue heavy. Comedy. Almost entirely in one location. 98% of the script takes place in a living room. 1% outside. 1% kitchen.

It would have to be adapted for your actor, and it doesn't include tarot cards or voodoo, but, it centers on the Grim Reaper.  The character is colorful, but I'd want to adapt it to your actor's voice. Which, I don't think would be hard.

I wrote it several years ago, but recently have been working on a rewrite.

If you're interested, I'll shoot the latest version your way. Again, it's a comedy... so, may not be what you're looking for.

Thanks for responding. Yeah, I should have mentioned in the original post that I was looking for something darker. Although I've made one comedy short film, The Curfew, comedy isn't really my thing.

For anyone wondering why I'm not writing something myself, the answer is that I don't know anything about tarot cards, voodoo or the like.

For anyone considering helping out. I will get proper props and costumes if needed. Professional crew and imdb credits for everyone involved.  :)

Hey Angry Bear,

I think I might have something. has a fair bit of dialogue set in one location. But at the moment it's two guys.

Still, changing the gender is no biggie and the tarot card thing would actually slot in nicely as one of the chaps has a criminal record for burglary, but would be more fun if it was for fraud (such as tarot cards), and I'd be happy to write the tarot into the story as her way of trying to talk the other chap, who's suicidal, out of doing what he's about to do.

Cheers

Max

I have something that could be adapted and would be right up your alley, especially if you're looking for a supernatural angle.

When do you need it?

Hey Pia,

Last year, I wrote a horror short related with voodoo (ops, big spoiler here!). Two locations - car, remote house with basement - and four characters. No adult black female or tarot - sorry. It's heavy on dialogue but has some action scenes too.

However, I think it may be difficult to shoot, don't know for sure - if you read it you'll know why. It made the semis of some smaller comps - Zed Fest, Barnstorm - and a few directors requested it via Inktip, but no follow-ups so far.

If you want to take a look, just out of curiosity, tell me.

Great! If you feel you might have something that could work, please email me at gatortales (A) gmail.com

I'll try to check it out over the weekend.

Thanks!  :)

It would be nice if I can shoot it this summer.  :)

Only got one so far. Send your scripts to me. It's about to rain here, so it would be a perfect time to read.

Thanks for clarifying. Good luck on your search!

Hey, Pia. I want to rewrite the short about stranded siamese sisters for you (I mean for your consideration). I don't know if you remember but it was selected for Michael and your project a long time ago.
But it will be in one room, all indoors. Should I?

Khamanna, I do remember that one even if not in detail. Too bad that motel thing didn't workout. BUT, Dena has a motel now, so who knows!  :D

I read several shorts over the weekend. Thank you to those who sent me some.  :)  I ended up discussing a script with someone that I think I might be able to pull off. I'll keep you posted. :)

Good luck. I would submit something but I don’t have anything of caliber for you.

Good luck with that short, Pia!

Oh, since Dina has a motel now...aah! I'll send that one if I manage to rewrite. A lot to be redone there, but I think it's manageable and fairly easy.

(Dena has a motel, people!) I didn't know.

Good luck, Pia!

Looking forward to seeing it on the screen.

Just now seeing this post I am very into palm reading and astrology would be very interested in learning if you are still in search for a script like this?
Thank you for your time.

Thanks everyone. Obviously I lost track of this thread...   :B

The company I wanted to try did not work out. Yet! They do great work, but they are way too busy with other commercial work. One reason we are still waiting for Call On Me to be finished with post. That one has been in post since August! But, if I find another local company, I live in a small'ish city, I will come back to this.

Tony, will keep in you in mind, because I still want to do something along the lines of that kind of stuff in the future.  :)
