How can I do this effectively? Would I need to focus on the pilot's experience and the mecha/robots experience? How would this work?

Please see the script I am working on to get any idea of why I need this question answered.

Would love to have feedback on this pilot.
Logline: A young bully is dragged into a global conflict where earth battles  against an otherworldly force after a series of asteroids  fall on every continent in the world.

1. Do I have a clear conflict?
2. Does my main character have a character arc? Are my characters compelling? (Not sure how possible this is in a short)
3. How can I add more subtext as I feel what I have written is quite on the nose?
Thank you for taking the time to read through and give me feedback.
