SimplyScripts Screenwriting Discussion Board  /  Screenwriting Class  /  Back to writing

Morning,

After a long hiatus and various problems, I'm picking up the pen again to do some writing to entertain myself.

A quick glance around the user board and some prominent names seem to have disappeared since the last time I was on here...

Anyway, coud anyone kindly point me in the direction of some easy to use, free screenwriting software please? The last lot I had was several laptops ago, and have no idea what happened to any of that stuff. I seem to remember using Celtx as a freebie, but don't know if there are better, or similar free ones around, so any pointers would be gratefully received.

Ta muchly.

Welcome back Kip!

The link Libby shared covers most of the contenders for free software, but as the reviewer notes most of these come with some form of limitation, be it number of scripts you can store or watermarks and the like.

Trelby is open source and doesn't have limitations, it is Windows only, but other than that totally free.

Personally, I favour Fade In Pro, $80 with future updates included and the developer is very active and responsive.

Good luck with whichever you pick.
