I forgot to ask. "Upon awakening they start hearing voices in their head." Are more than one person hearing voices
in their head or just one person hearing voices?

Anthony -- no way! What a great coincidence. Clicked around the channel a bit. That's awesome.

Anyway, I can't decide whether to enter this OWC or just take up metal detecting.

Sweet! My wife and I bought a detector after watching The Detectorists on ACORN TV. We've only taken it out a couple of times, but, hope to do more.

Also, for anyone who hasn't seen it, The Detectorists is a really good show. Subtle, but fun.

Anyone seen this Aussie production?
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6020800/

They weren't metal detecting, but this instantly came to mind. Harrowing, and a mind-bender.

Edit: Forgot to paste the link.

This idea sounds really cool. Wonder what inspired Don?

I'm betting at least three writers are playing around with the idea of naming their script,  "What Metal Detectorists Want."

Which is the sequel we are all waiting for! Well, Anthony is anyway.

Can't help it.  When a subject clicks, and the story drops into your head as JK says, then you lay there in bed and it plays out over and over in your mind, getting better every time, you just have to write it down...and I'm happy with it.  We'll just have to wait and see what others think.

Yes, wow. Between work and getting ready for a big holiday dinner I haven't even started yet, but I have been writing a few ideas down on paper (scrapped 2 ideas so far).

Can't wait to read all the scripts. I love the OWC.

Yes, Detectorists. No "The." Thanks for the correction!

Mad props to Mackenzie Crook. So good. And, Toby Jones is always good.

Anyway, to answer your other question from a separate comment, we bought the Fisher F22. (I say "we" but my wife really lead the charge.)

We've found multiple crushed cans and little else. Our big find was a brass hose nozzle. We had lost it when we first moved into our house 20 years ago. It must have rolled down our driveway and slowly been buried over the years. We cleaned it up and started using it again. So, that's $5 saved.

At least we knew what we were getting into!

If you've written about a mental detectorist,  we'll that's an easy mistake to make.

Sean,

Now we all want to read this script.  We're intrigued.  You must submit it. It would be against the rules* if you didn't submit it now after all this hype.

It would still fit the theme.  Under the American's with Disabilities Act, I have to take dyslexia into consideration when accepting or rejecting entries to the OWC.  I can't penalize an entrant because of his/her/their disability.

I think in another thread I decided that it would be against the rules if I didn't accept the entry.

This makes me feel better, as I wrote a script about somebody who hears vices.

What about a mental defective? Basically an autobiographical script.

Great. Just when I decided to write my desktop that had FDR (and all my work on it!) crashed. I'm gonna try save it all on a harddrive and trash the comp.

Good luck to all. I'm gonna read while at work. My cubicle is the best - you should see it, I see ppl comps and they don't see me.

Too mighty quiet.

I just hit submit. Goal for the week was to finish what I started, as I am currently stalled (for the first time ever) on 3 separate projects (I have 2 complete first acts and the first 10 pages of a novel based on an existing script.) I just keep creating new projects when I get stuck. Was looking for this OWC to unstick me. Let's see if it worked. Circling back to the first script to finish it!!

Yo, Don, just wanted to point out that when I click on the submit link at the top of the page, it just refreshes to the same page. I had to use the link in this thread to submit.

Could just be me. It usually is.

Sorry to not be in this one. My kids got covid last weekend and my wife got it a few days ago. I've been taking care of them and cleaning a lot, no time or creative energy for this.

Our neighbors have it too, they got it just after we spent time with them last. I feel like I'm dodging covid like Neo from The Matrix.

Sorry to hear that, Rene. Speedy recovery to one and all. I was in a similar boat a few weeks ago when my wife and son caught it a few days before our holiday to Florida and we had to cancel.

I thought I was gonna get it for sure but my daughter and I somehow got a covid hall pass that time. It's a nasty virus for sure. Even though both had mild cases,  both are still suffering a few weeks after testing negative with a cough that wont quit and getting out of breath easily. My wife had to take short breaks even going up the stairs!

Sorry to hear about your test. This Covid crap is nothing to take lightly. Even if you're triple vaxxed it does weird things to people in a LOT of different ways. I've got all the shots, but tested positive first week in January. Felt fine except for a little sleepy. My husband had a scratchy throat for one day. That was it, until a couple of days later, I got up to go to the bathroom at night and fainted. Something I've never done in my life. I fell flat on my back and hit my head hard on the stone floor. I was out for 20 minutes... Not only did I get a concussion, but a fracture as well. Took 2.5 months to heal and now I have a flat spot in the back of my head. A few days later, the news came about Bob Saget. Apparently he was feeling great, but was Covid positive when he died. I would be willing to bet that what happened to him is the same thing that happened to me. So be careful everyone. You might be vaxxed and feeling great, but this thing can still get you when you least expect it.

Not for a good while yet, Athol.

People need to read and review, votes need to be tallied, Guess Who Wrote What goes up at some point when the majority have been reviewed. Usually a week at least.

There are no winners.  It's a challenge, not a contest.  Just by finishing a scripts makes everyone a winner.

The Writers' Choice, however,  will be announced on Saturday or when all the ballots are in.

Woah, Pia, what a story. Reading about Bob Saget right now - scary, I didn't know he tested positive for Covid and thus lost his consciousness.
Hope it's all in the past for you!

Well, they said he was Covid+ but asymptomatic when he died. he fell and hit his head. Lightheadedness and fainting are some of the numerous effects of Covid. That's why I said, I'd be willing to bet. I have no way of knowing that was the case. Regardless, one of the scariest things I've ever experienced.
