Haven't been active here lately, but did manage to slide some words together for this challenge.

Everyone will hate it.

And that's fine. Just trying to get back into the swing of writing new stuff.

Feature-length scripts:
Who Wants to Be a Princess? (Family)
Glass House (Horror anthology)

TV pilots:
"Kord" (Fantasy)
"Mal Suerte" (Superhero)

Additional scripts are listed here.

Ant, honestly, at this point I don't know.

Don's rules there, so if you can get an extra past him good luck.
He may well see what the final count is before deciding so make sure your best offering is there.

Competition will be stiff. I see another mug winner has entered the fray, too.

V.nice to have you and Frank onboard.

Yay! It's gonna be good.

Ah, go on, Mark.
I don't think you've missed one since you joined, have you?

Give us a good ol' punch to the gut.

I sat out the December 2020 and this year's February challenge.

But ok, I might just get one in, but don't expect anything earth-shattering.

As it's only 1-2 pages of course I've ended up writing more than one... but I may just enter the one I think is strongest after I've re-read them all... then submit the others further down the line.

For what its worth, if people are going to be submitting more than one script can there at least be a limit?

I think I'll make an executive decision and say:

1 entry per person.

Apologies it wasn't up top. I really should have anticipated the question with such a short page count.

No multiple entries.

I hope that sounds fair.

Just don't blame me if Don lets one slide.

As sad as it is for me to say, I'll be sitting this one out. If the Halloween OWC proved anything, it's that I'm no good at twists or gut-punching the audience which I'd prefer to do. That takes some talent which I don't think I have. Best of luck to those who'll be entering.

Just show the audience your left hand and then smack 'em round the head with your right.

Watch that Bedfellows short for inspiration as it's simple and effective..
In the left hand there is a lump in the bed next to her, must be her lover.... then monster in the right hand and SMACK!

Play on peoples preconceptions and assumptions... I hear hooves, must be a horse... oh wait, it's a Rhino!... see, you thought the twist there was that it was going to be a Zebra.

Take this word "talent" out of your vocab when you think about your writing, it will hold you back. "I'm not talented enough" is a dangerous mindset and implies there is no hope. Practice and study and write and practice some more... you got this. There is a simple phrase we say in my household when something gets tough, we just shout to ourselves "Yes I can!" (It helped the other half through labour twice)

Best of luck

Works for me Libby, was leaning that way anyways...

And I've got an extra couple for post-challenge feedback too.

Win-win.

I think I have submitted (One of these days I will do it wrong and not get my entry in lol)

I was feeling super pleased with my entry, it follows a basic and well-trodden path but I thought I had done it well, then I showed it to the other half... I don't think I've ever seen her look so bored lol

Oh well, I'm in anyway.

Win-win, indeed, Ant.

Nice pep talk from Matt, too. Ha! Just read Matt's last post.

Talent can indeed be cultivated, and mindset is really important.

I agree. It works a treat in Bedfellows.

Bedfellows is fine, it's just a rework of the "There's a monster under the bed" then when you look under the bed the same kid is there saying, "There's a monster in my bed" jump scare, which has been done so many times.

This is the issue with flash fiction in particular. As there really are only a handful of twist endings a lot of them are similar. You can't get away from that so the trick is to try and give things a different spin.

So I've had a go and I'm in! Managed to break something at work (which is my job, I test business software and websites) which gave me some free time. It's all very rushed and last minute so that is my excuse if it is poo!

I'm glad I read the comments as I had an idea for a 2nd one I was going to write and I've never entered more than one before, but now I see it's 1 entry per person so I'll keep that idea for another time.

So much negativity! Where's Claudio? Kham? Ghostie? Faisal?

Submitted. Mine rocks. I'm so confident. Just send me my mug now. Positive waves, man!

Regret. Second guessing myself. OMG, it sucks.

Thanks. Hoping to be able to keep up with all three rounds. This one I was able to find a couple of hours to tap random keys until I got to FADE OUT.
