the 4wc is officially on hope everyone has had a good start today. and if not, there's still 29 days left.
there will be a submission link up soon for the first ten if y'all would like to share by the end of the week.
this is the thread where everyone can talk about progress throughout the week.
so far, I don't have any pages but I hope to at least get 3 by tonight. tbh the thing that's been holding me up is character names lol. I have my idea intact but it's hard for me to start writing till I know what to call everyone. and I'm never good with placeholder names because it makes it hard to really "see" the characters.
this is something I should've figured out sooner but I was struggling to even get my whole idea figured out before the 1st. I love being employed ! I love my executive functioning !
I don't have any pages. I do have an idea. I just don't know how to go about starting the writing process. As mentioned before, I haven't written a feature-length screenplay in ten years.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for screenplays.
I have 3 pages so far. Writing some this morning as well. Not sure I'll hit my mark though but I'll get as far as I can even if it's only 30 or 60 pages.

There's no real one way to do it but if you have an idea just come up with your protagonist and then any other characters and scenes you can think of. Write out your story in three acts and just keep expanding.

The sequence method is one way to do it, Reg. Have a look at this. Hopefully it might help to at least get you off the starting blocks.
Well, I’m back after a short, self-imposed time out for a deep breath and self-reflection. I obviously could not stay away for long.
I really didn’t think I would have anything to offer concerning writing a feature-length script. The last one I wrote was two years ago and inspiration just hasn’t struck since, other than creating shorts for the OWCs.
HOWEVER, the holiday season approaches and a holiday romance writer’s mind tends toward thinking of...holiday romance. So... as I was just sitting mindlessly watching TV a couple nights back (no, it wasn’t Hallmark) a title popped in my head. I wasn’t thinking about writing at all. Where did it come from? I have no idea. I Googled it thinking maybe something had already been produced and it was stuck somewhere in my subconscious. Nope. Nothing. So of course, once that title was in my head, my writer brain shifted in to creative mode. I have yet to even pen “Fade In”, but here’s my initial take on a logline and story theme. Apologies up front for the blatent pun in the title LOL.

Maybe. That might be exactly it. How could you possibly know? It’s not like any Hallmark movie has ever followed such a plot. 😂 Seriously though, I have been told by more than one producer that coloring outside the lines is not allowed, as evidenced by an entire truckload of the same old tropes. I will attempt to give this a fresh look as much as possible. Wish me luck!

I sometimes like limitations. I think they force creativity. "It’s like writing a song in the same key as everyone else but finding your own melody." Good luck!
