Bit of fun, above.

Hey Reef, doesn't your macguffin having meaning mean that it's no longer a mcguffin?

That video is priceless!

Quoted from RayW

First and foremost: write your story, irregardless if it fits the parameters.

Second: twice I've submitted dark comedies for OWCs that did not ask for comedies and was... what's a nice word for pummeled/flogged/excoriated? for it. I would advise against anything for the relatively straight laced audience here to conservatively follow the given parameters.

Good luck & best wishes.

I would have read it.

If anyone is prepared to read and give notes on mine then I will do so for theirs. Even if it's  a comedy. In fact it would be a welcome relief from all the action/thriller/horror/sci-fi stories. I hope there isn't anyone put off by the parameters.

One good thing to come from things like this is 8-9 reads (or whatever) on your feature, which is more than you can ask for on the boards in general these days. Especially all within close proximity of each other. It's worth entering for that alone.

No. I just happened to have finished one that fit the criteria a couple of months ago. I will not be submitting anything, but I'd happy to trade reads. I have not yet sent mine out for coverage.

Well, perhaps it is one until the moment it has meaning

A macguffin lite

Or a skinny macguffin on the side !

I'm nearing the end of my initial draft but my first ten are going to need changing, which is pretty much standard with all my drafts.

It usually takes me three goes to get a viable story. The initial draft gets the skeleton done, then I need to colour in the middle. The third go ties everything up so there shouldn't be any plot holes or things that don't quite make sense. Then, I'm done. I call that a viable first draft.

Good going.

I'm up to page 15 but may need to spend some time checking where I'm going.

But I'm enjoying this, I even open with the "no no" of a credits scene - bring it on

I'm not bothered about stuff like that any more. I know you know what you're doing, so if it's in there, it's there because you want it there. I'll just concentrate on the story.

I'll start on Sunday.
Work, and what's the word -- cant't be assed -- procrastination or something?
It's simple enough, I'll just hammer it out when in the mood, it'sa horror film and I'm not a fan.

I know my story and all that, just not had time to write it.

I'll write it when I feel ready to write it.
Hopefully Sunday.

It's fairly simple, so I have no pressure.
I'll probably leave until 3 weeks until the deadline until I decide to do something with it.

I hope nobody criticizes my use of mini-slugs, otherwise they'll get a swift roundhouse to the face.

I've been putting them in everything recently.

Fen, story is key. I would never discount a script purely based on formatting unless it was so bad I couldn't read it.

My first 10 is pretty lurid.  Somewhere in the second act, it's gonna get worse.  Debating whether or not I'm even gonna submit it.

But, regardless, I'm using the deadline as a goal to help me finish on time.

I'm having fun with it all, though...putting a twist on the meaning of the female lead and doing something unique with the McGuffin.
