My g/f and I, with the new school year upon us, are going to be purchasing a notebook, an entertainment notebook -- something with power. She wants to play games (and do homework, seriously). I'm not a gamer. I just want to edit video from the camcorder. That said, can anyone suggest software? This will be a PC, not a MAC. Will $1,200 be enough in terms of processor speed and memory? I hate video. Destest it. I'd rather shoot on an old Super 8, Goodwill, camera (anyone have an old projecter?), then transfer it to video, or better yet digitize it. Still, I need to be practical, I need sound. Any advice?

If you are looking for something cheap and easy that doesn't have too many bugs and doesn't require a HUGE amount of Ram, get something like Pinnacle Studio Plus. It's powerful enough to do greenscreen (to a degree, anyway) but is simple enough to just cut together a simple video. And it usually costs around $100 at the most depending on where you get it. I'm not sure though...it's been a while since I purchased something like this.

Thanks, Chris. I appreciate the info. I'll definitely at Pinnacle Studio Plus.

Thanks again!
