I'm a Patriots fan, and definitely see good things this year. The Jets have been magic in the playoffs the last two years, so they should be locked and loaded again. The pats are one of the youngest teams in the league, but were 14 and 2 last year, so they should only improve. Last years mediocre defense, filled with rookies, will be close to dominant this year, especially if Haynesworth pans out.

The Jets are one of the oldest teams in the league, and Sanchez does not have the consistency of Brady, so I look for the Pats to win the division again, and another showdown in Foxborough in the post season. Should be a close game between two teams with two of the top defenses in the league.

Pittsburgh and Greenbay are primed again, both young with quarterbacks with rings. Pittsburgh hopes they don't get the Pats in the playoffs, and if they don't, they should be back in the big game.

I think the window is closing for Baltimore and Indy, though they're dangerous.

San Diego could be the team to watch, but that gets said every year.

No one will touch Green Bay in the NFC. They're in. New Orleans was a nice story a couple years ago, and they're respectable, but they can't touch Geen Bay. Chicago? Will be the same story it's been the last several years. Not championship material.

Vikings have McNabb now. They would have been better off bringing Favre back.

So the Super Bowl: Patriots vs Packers. Not exactly going on a limb with that pick, but that's what it should be, though Jets and Steelers can't be ruled out.

Alright, Kev, let me start out by saying I'm a dolphins fan.  That usually causes instant, abject hatred in a jet or pats fan.  And the feeling, of course is mutual(on a fan level only, nothing personal).  Mainly because the pats have had ridiculous success over the past decade while miami flounders in the dust because of poor drafting, poor coaching and a weak front office.

So I see Belichick nabs Ochocinco and Haynesworth for pennies on the dollar.  Damn.  Jets are shooting for Asamghua, which would give them a truly lethal backfield.

Miami grabs the uneven, at times excellent Reggie Bush to compliment their monster new running back Daniel Thomas(bye bye Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams).  Major problem for the fins...they still have no qb.  Henne is useless and today they sign Matt Moore, the wretched refuse of Carolina.  Looks like the deal for Orton has fallen through, which is disheartening to say the least.

So for predictions, I'll say Pittsburgh, Jet and Pats challenge for the AFC title.

In NFC, Green Bay, New Orleans and watch out for Tampa as a dark horse, especially if they pick up some key free agents with their massive cap space.

Definitely tough to be a Dolphins fan these days. I used to go down there for the Pats/Dolphins game with a big group in the late 90s. The Dolphins fans were actually pretty cool. Only saw a few fights, and they were usually Pats fans starting it.

Tampa turned things in the right direction last year, good call, we'll see if it can continue.

The Pats have the Saints first round pick next year, so hopefully they flop. I they will, I just don't think they can compete with Green Bay in the end mostly because Green Bay is really that good. Green Bay should actually be better than last year.

I can't wait for it all to start! Love the NFL.

I'm still wondering what happened to my Niners last season!

We  were supposed to be the next big thing but failed. Granted we lost a few games by small margins.

Have entered a fantasy comp as usual and looking forward to the new season. The EPL starts again soon but Villa have sold 2 of their best players so am really keen..not!!

Locally, my AFL team St.Kilda is playing tonight up here on the Gold Coast. Have washed my jumper and am looking forward to seeing the boys live

Prediction: lots of men in big shoulder blades will run into each other. A lot.

The real football season starts on August 13th. UP THE TOON!

Guess who's back? Back again?

I want to see Tebow as starting quarterback!!  Other than that, college football is far more exciting than the NFL.

Eagles just signed Asomhuga. We can't forget about them. Andy Reid always has them in the picture.

I was very happy to hear he didn't go to the jets.

Pia, I'd like to see Tebow play, too.  Because that would mean the Broncos traded Kyle Orton, hopefully to the dolphins.  I'm still praying it might happen.

I'm a die-hard Bears fan, but I can't believe I've seen no mention of Atlanta in the NFC talk.  That team is loaded.

I've always liked what I've seen from Baltimore, but if they can't re-sign some of those guys they let go at cheaper contracts, they're pretty much screwed.

Yeah, Atlanta's a very good team, solid young quarterback, Matty Ice. They could leap to the next level.

Atlanta's a contender, but I'd still give New Orleans the edge in the NFC South.  And ATL  pretty much sold the farm to get Julio Jones, so he better produce for them.  But I don't know if Matt Ryan can push that team to the next level.  Plus, they still have some holes on defense.

Chicago's an interesting team.  Plenty of talent, but I wonder how the rest of the players will regard Cutler after his performance in the playoff game.  I know the fans were mighty pissed seeing him standing on the sidelines.

How come nobody's talking about my Cowboys?  I think hands down they're going to be one of the strongest 7 and 9 teams in the league.

I definately have my eye on the Eagles and the Falcons to give the Packers some competition in the NFC.

Pittsburgh'll make the playoffs only because they get games handed to them.  (And this year, I took a browse through and it looks like they have one of the easiest schedules imaginable.  I'm kind of surprised not to see any high school teams on their schedule.)

I can't say too much about anything else because I haven't really had the time to check anything out, but it looks like the Pats are putting pieces in place, and the Dolphins are really screwing themselves if they stick with Henne.

And I despise everything about college football.  Yeah, there might be a couple rivalries played here and there, but for the most part, the games are scheduled great teams against poor teams until the bowl games start.  Then there's the ranking system, which is based on little more than gorilla math.  Yeah, college football really ticks me off.

College basketball is awesome, but you're right, Mark, college football has been ruined by the ranking system. It's like professional boxing now. Not a lot of real matchups. And the NFL is the most competitive league in sports, amateur of pro.

The problem with Dallas, in recent years, is that they never come anywhere near to living up to expectations. So most people are reluctant to consider them. But you never know when they'll finally break out. A lot will depend on Romo.

You boys and girls better watch out for my Rams this year.

Laugh all you want but we continue to rebuild and are getting to teh point where we should wine 9 or 10 games, as well as the Division.

Actually, I think there are alot of teams that could/will surprise this year.  Every year, we get new teams in the Playoffs, and this one will be no different.

I have to admit, I am worried about the Pats, who I despise intensely, ever since they beat my Rams in the Super Bowl.

I also think KC will come to play this season.

Biggest fear is The Eagles.  They could be a true force, and just may be the odds on fave at the moment.

The Rams are still in the NFL? Wow, who knew!

Just kidding. I like Bradford. If he continues to progress his second year, they will be a factor. Hopefully Jackson still has tread on the tires. He seems to. They're heading in the right direction.

It's funny, for a league that has such competitive balance, it's seems the same teams dominate in the NFL for very long periods. But there's always a new contender looming on the horizon, especially in the NFC. Could be the Rams.
