All -

Going into "research" mode for the latest script - and needed a comprehensive list of classic "mercenary soldier" ensemble films.  Tons of macho-ness, explosions, and witty banter.  Problem is, that was never really my cup of tea growing up (was a Star Wars/ET fan myself...).  So will take any recommendations available....

So far, have seen:

* The Losers
* RED
* The A-Team
* Predator

Thx!

Aliens
The Expendables
Universal Soldier

Not necessarily "merc" films, but same type of thing. Aliens is great for the banter between characters.

Well...Seven Samurai is THE film that started it all...

The Dirty Dozen
The Rock (has elements, at least, and is also THE BEST ACTION FILM EVER)
Where Eagles Dare (sorta)
Rambo (the fourth film, not First Blood)
The Expendables
The Wild Bunch

I'm having trouble thinking of more modern ones, I know there are a lot more...

Yeah!  Aliens is probably the best film out there for macho banter.

Force 10 From Navarone
The 13th Warrior

all the good ones are mentioned, which leaves me with
The Delta Force (1986)
Navy Seals (1990)

But if you just want drama...at least I got to namedrop a great film...

Platoon (1986) comes easily to mind. There IS a small bit of macho-ness going down in that. Sgt. Barnes "You can't kill me/ The Machine" speech! If that is blood pumpin' macho, I don't know what is.
