I've been so busy that I've been quite absent as of late, but I had the fortune to come home to an amazing show my husband drummed up. It was late and this show was JUST what the doctor ordered!!!
If you haven't heard of it, check it out!!! I loved it and would highly recommend it!!!

One of my favourite shows, clever, sharp unexpected writing and genuine laugh out loud moments. One reason I enjoy living in the UK is for shows like this!
Renham is so funny - "Faaaaatheeeeerr" I'm a massive fan of Moss. An awesome character, Richard Ayoade the actor who plays him, has a career writing and directing and recently did well at Sundance with "Submarine" he's on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Ayoade
The fouth season was noteably weaker than the other three IMO, it hasnt been renewed yet (only a 2012 special).

Have to agree with ya there Steve. Now that's a must watch show. One of the best comedies around. No one should watch the movie though, that actually sucked so much.

That's a bit harsh Mohammad, it had problems but the dance scene alone was worth watching the movie. I hadn't laughed so much at a dance move since David Brent from The Office.
The dance scene! Cringe! The problem with the movie was that it tried to be funny. They put the characters in awkward situations and they put crude dialogue hoping it would get some laughs. It just threw away everything which made the show original and made it something similar to "Grown ups" which sucked IMO.
I dunno, maybe I was expecting too much when I watched it.
No, I enjoy Inbetweeners and its fantastically written, but IT crowd just has a more geeky nature to it that appeals to me more - like big bang theory. I've never really been into jokes about bodily fluids that much. While we're riding the de-rail express however, my favourite comedy has to be Father Ted. Crude, rude and no piss jokes.
I've never seen The IT Crowd, but I don't care for The Big Bang Theory. The Inbetweeners I thought was pretty hilarious for the first season. I kinda lost interest quickly as the second season didn't build on that for me. I'm more of a Mighty Boosh man anyway.

As for inbetweeners I'm with E.D. After the first series it was just the same thing over and over which is why I won't see the film. Saying that the fish in the boat was the second series and that had me laughing for about three days.
Have to disagree about the mighty boosh though. A lot of my friends love it but it does nothing for me. Far too weird. You may be interested to know that Noel Fielding has a new show coming soon called 'Noel Fieldings Luxury Comedy'. It looks very weird too.
As for my fave comedy would be either the office or any Alan Partridge related stuff.
I've seen clips of it. Some things the Brits do well, others not so well. They're good at comedy but I can't help feeling that this would be better handled by US folk.

For me, Scrubs, Taxi, Cheers, Seinfeld are just unbeatable.
I went through a period of watching soaps from around the world and some of the older Brit comedy appealed to me. The Good Life...stuff like that.

Liking those that you list there, Sophie, but (as you say subjective) there's no way (to my mind) that something as obviously British as IT Crowd would be better handled by another country. We've seen the US attempts at The Office. It's OK but completely misses the nuance of the original. Loud, brash and bangs you over the head.
It's kind of like when the Brits tried to do Scrubs - it was called Green Wing and totally missed the brillance of Scrubs, which is your greatest comedy in the last 20 years, IMO. It eeks out others like Cheers and Seinfield because it would well you up seconds after making you belly laugh. Uniquely so. I know the 'cool kids' will disagree with such blasphemy, however.
On a separate note, I loved the Inbetweeners Movie. Never really watched the series but the movie was easily one of my favourites last year (again, not one for the cool kids). A true coming of age tale that many my age will relate to from days in Ibiza, Zante and Magaluf. The writer/director(s) were obviously on the same page.
