I noticed there was an OWC last year in June. Just wondered if June is a 'normal' month to have an OWC...as I'm in between projects and could use a good short. |

OWC used to be in January, April, July and October...things haven't been the same lately. |

The 7WC ruined everything (faux "Fight Club" quote). Okay, not really, but since it showed up, the timing has been thrown off a bit. There's the week or two of preparation, seven weeks of writing and the month-long review/burnout (for those who participate). Typically, there's no other contest-type stuff going on in that time, so we're talking a shade over three months dealing with one contest. That's in opposition to roughly 3-4 weeks for the OWC. Then, there's the possibility of doing a game. That's another one that could take about a month to a month and a half to do. When it's just OWCs, the timeline is a lot easier to keep. When it isn't... things get moved around. |

The 7WC is a great way to get people to push themselves to write features. I personally love them. I also love the OWC, but I'm currently trying to learn to become a better feature writer rather than a shorts writer. Btw, I will get back to reading the 7WC scripts tomorrow now when I've finished the rewrite for Arterial Motives. |

The OWC schedule has nothing to do with other activities. Other activities are paused when an OWC is announced. We never wait until another activity is over to have an OWC. The other activities are meant to fill the gap. |

What you gonna draw?? I understand your question though. I have no idea when the next one will be. Phil used to be the one that contacted Don about the OWC's, but since he's busy...maybe Don has forgotten or maybe he remembers, but hopes no one else will remember! |

Drawing out a Rom/Com called Baby Daddy... I have also been trying to write features, but I just happened across an owc from last year in June...only reason it sparked my attention. Can't wait to see the pirate short! |

OWC! Could be good timing. Having finished the 7wc, followed by a re writing of the script, I feel a break from that one would be good. I just hope it doesn't start next week as I am away. Jeff would miss another with his travels, mind you he sounds like he's going to be busy anyway.

Sure! |
| 'Artist' is not a term you should use to refer to yourself. Let others, and your work, do it for you. |

Y'know, I was pimpin' DVX Script Fests awhile back and not one SSr partook... Last Month MP had Found Footage short scripts as a challenge. Only 17 entries that month and only on SSr I know of entered. (That being me) So I come across this thread, and I say...
Yes, a OWC would be nice, but nobody's stopping anyone from writing. Do you need anymore excuses? Set your own deadline if you must. If there is anything down the road, hopefully it will be slightly different than previous OWC's. To quote one of my DVXuser pals, Girls With Guns, Godard style with stripper rules (no touching) |

Hey Daren, you're right that ther are others, although I didn't spot the DVX. Are there others? It's not a site I have frequented. I missed the FF at MP but am in the current one pager and entering the next, plus a UK competition, but... ....there's nothing quite like an OWC. |

Hey Darren... Nothing's stopping me...in 9 months ...6 features and 8 shorts. I just sometimes like a break from my hardcore discipline. It's like a vacation And the October OWC was where it all started for me so...I'm sort'a sweet on them I guess. Like a first love I've never been to movie poet. Not big into contests...still learning...and I like it 'here'. d |

Darren...WTF in response to your "really". Who in the name of Zeus are you to tell anyone to stop make excuses? Really. How do you have any idea what people are working on, or why they are interested in an OWC? Most people look at an OWC as a break from their regular writing, not as an excuse to write. And many just like the camaraderie of it.
I've never heard of DVX. I'm not a fan of MP's 5 pagers, no offense to them. And I'm not really interested in writing shorts or becoming involved with short contests. I make an exception for the OWC, even though it interrupts other work, because I like the sense of community the contest enhances. I'd be a little more cautious if I were you about assuming others motivations behind doing OWC's. |

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/forum.phpScroll down to the Scriptfests. The last one (now done) was 'Alienfest'. In the 'General Previous fests' section, you can also go to the 'Spriptfests' there to see past challenges. |

I was referring only to those in general, and meant no offense to anyone. I'm not a huge fan on MP five page limits either. |

OWC!!!!
OWC!!!!
OWC!!!!
In July, since we obviously missed June. I haven't been able to partake in some time, but I'm sure as shit ready now.
I've got this great idea about an eggplant, 2 lesbians, and a nude pool party - hope it fits in with the challenge topic. |
