I am in the mood to read a feature this weekend -- and I have an idea for something new that will either work or it won't. We will see.
I will read and comment on the feature of whoever posts next -- for free, I am not looking for a read right now -- but there is a catch.
If you post on this thread, you are obligated to read the feature of whoever posts next.
You will have no idea of the author, the genre, whatever. A total surprise. Fun, right?
And this is true for anyone who posts here -- you will get a read from whoever is above you, and you gotta read whatever comes next.
Everybody wins as long as nobody breaks the chain.
Do not post if you ain't gonna read!!
If you break the chain you are officially a jerk who is subject to ridicule and snide remarks and will probably have a hard time getting people to read your stuff anyway from that point forward because they will all know that you are a non-reading jerk.
Your script MUST be available on the boards, and please provide a link (or at least the title and genre of where to find it)
NO SHORTS here. Features only.
Do not post if the guy above you has already read your script -- you will look like an ungrateful dork.
One last thing -- no idle chatter on this thread to confuse things, as the order of posts will be important. There is no need to post, "I will read next Tuesday." All of that stuff is simply assumed.
What are the chances of a separate thread, same idea, for shorts? Sorry if this falls under the category of idle chatter. Feel free to delete this question upon reading and replying. Thanks.
Sorry if this falls under the category of idle chatter.
grumble...grumble....it does.
But I actually had the same thought -- but then I thought shorts don't need it. That is all most people read.
Everybody complains about how hard it is to get their feature read....I am kind of disappointed more folks aren't kicking this forward. Lots of moaning -- but little action at a chance to fish or cut bait.
Alffy now reads Willowick and you, James, read whoever pops up next.
Bear ain't got nothing to do with anything she is just visiting.
Please no more posting unless you are reading.
Sir Alffy already reviewed my feature. Would be happy to read Led's. If he'll make up his mind which one. ha ha. Pia did say she had one feature on the boards though... Thought I was following in good spirit here...
I think the problem is when someone might want to participate, but the person above them has scripts you've already read so you wait till someone else posts, but not many people do or you've already read their stuff.
I wasn't trolling on your idea. I wanted to be a good Simply citizen. I swear.
But quite entertaining just the chatter even! I know you're growling at me Bert
HOWEVER, this has prompted me to open up Clairvoyance...a lil feature I wrote for the 7wc and never posted. Trying to dust the cob webs and get out the pledge. Maybe I'll post it this week.
Good try Bert. It's hard to get order in here. lol. I think it could still catch on. Maybe. :/
Anyway, I've got some scripts to read. Allfy's Jwent, and Led...not necessarily in that order though.
Just Murdered by Sean Elwood (Zombie Sean) and Gabriel Moronta (Mr. Ripley) - (Dark Comedy, Horror) All is fair in love and war. A hopeless romantic gay man resorts to bloodshed to win the coveted position of Bridesmaid. 99 pages. https://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-comedy/m-1624410571/
After re-reading Bert's initial post I see where I screwed up. Sorry to clusterfuck your idea... Thought it was a good one to inject some life into these boards which have been pretty mundane of late.
I'll review Mission Style this week. I've never read a comedy feature here, will be a nice change of pace.
Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans! Who's script am I meant to read? I've been standing at the station for a day or so then loads turn up and none are going my way! Help please.....
Check out my scripts...if you want to, no pressure.
Ha ha. Leave it to me to royally screw Berts brainchild. Twas a pleasure. I think your idea sounds like a good one, Steve. I'm already half way into Shawn's and should finish up by Wednesday. Sorry Alffy, I shouldn't have posted behind you and Pia. I would just say read the script of next person who chimes in lest you haven't read Berts Farm, but I'm assuming you have.
Just thought I would add to the chatter, how about another similar thread where you post a logline and the next person or even the previous person has to write a short for that logline.
Actually Alex, I thought about something the other day which is similar to what you just said. I was thinking; come up with a number of titles and dish them out and you have to write a short for the one you get?
I thought I'd chime in with this as it puts me back to the bottom and the next post of a script is mine muhahahah!!!

Now that would be a challenge
Sorry Bert
That's an excellent idea. Definitely a solid challenge.
