I'm interested in reading animation, horror, sci fy, suspense, fantasy, and anything that is good. I enjoy writing the same. Looking to team with anyone!
Westland's stoked too, I'm sure the last thing he expected was to hang out with me for the weekend. Thanks for entrusting us in your absence, really cool of you.
Can't really say too much as not much has been made public, but a feature film I wrote "The Suicide Theory" -- work-shopped here in 2008 -- was recently picked up for distribution by Freestyle Releasing ("Cake" starring Jennifer Aniston, "The Illusionist" w/ Edward Norton & Paul Giamatti, "The Collector", "Green Street Hooligans", "An American Haunting", etc.)
The feature will be released on July 10th, limited theaters. Not sure about DVD and VOD stuff, but when I learn more, I'll keep everyone posted.
A little background on the film... it premiered at TCL Chinese Theaters on Hollywood Boulevard as part of the Dances With Films Festival. We ended up winning the Grand Jury Prize for best picture. We also won an Audience Award at Austin Film Festival and a few more awards at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival. We were also voted Best Aussie Film of 2014 by the movie buffs at Fakeshemp.net (I am from NYC but the picture was produced in Australia).
The reviews of the film have been very good so far. Thanks to all who helped me with earlier drafts way back when!
Can you tell us which theaters it will play in? I've been waiting for years to be able to go see an SS member's film in a theater with popcorn, twizzlers, nachos, sour patch kids....
I haven't been to the movies since I saw Gravity. But, I would definitely go if I knew who the writer is. Totally awesome!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Pia. Not really sure yet, but I'll keep everyone posted! I suspect bigger cities, but we'll see. The producers have been very hush about it, haven't really told me much. Guess they're waiting for a press release. I was told about as much as was published on Rotten Tomatoes, Box Office Mojo and IMDB.
Not sure yet, Jeremiah. All I know is the release date and that it will have a limited theatrical release. We'll see.
I think JohnnyONuts saw the film at TCL Chinese Theaters when it premiered in LA, not sure if he stuck around for the Q and A after, though. But that was a hell of venue, one of the most famous theaters in the world. And the screen was GINORMOUS. Really cool. I was fortunate enough to see it twice with an audience (once in LA and once in Austin, Texas at Alamo Drafthouse). Great reaction both times.
Dang, I might be the only one who's seen it. The Suicide Theory is a great film, brought back that feeling of going to film festivals before I thought about writing. The audience reception was killer, a testament to Michael's script. It definitely has his signature WTF moments.
The dynamic of the characters is surprisingly lighthearted at times given the dark subject of the plot. I highly recommend seeing it.
