Decided to start another thread with the new season upon us. Should be a very interesting one, especially with all the top three changing managers and no Fergie for the first time in like forever. My predictions... Top 6: 1. Chelsea 2. Man City 3. Man Utd 4. Spurs 5. Arsenal (this is on their current squad - if they buy some quality in the next 3 weeks then I would move them up) 6. Aston Villa... or maybe Liverpool. Relegated: 18. Stoke 19. Hull City Tigers! 20. Crystal Palace (sorry Alffy but with a Chamakh/Phillips strike partnership, it doesn't look good) F.A Cup - Man Utd League Cup - Spurs Champions League - Real Madrid Best signing of the summer - Benteke penning a new deal at Villa! Worst signing of the summer - All of Liverpool's buys! Let the fun begin... |

Ok, a very uneducated guess at the top
1) man united 2) spurs - if they keep bale which does look unlikely 3) Chelsea 4) Liverpool - tall order I accept 5) man city
How long will arsenal keep its manager? |

My predictions are...
1 Chelsea 2 Man United 3 Man City 4 Spurs 5 Liverpool 6 Arsenal
18 Palace 19 Hull 20 Cardiff
Been a good start to the season so far. United were more impressive than I expected, Villa absolutely delighted me by tonking the scum, and Spurs got a win I'm more than happy with.
Would be interested to see if any Americans will be getting into 'soccer' this year as I believe NBC are showing every single premier league game, which is way more than we get over here.

FANTASY FOOTBALL
So I've just set up a fantasy league on premierleague.com, all you have to do is go on the site and pick your team, the code to join the Simply Scripts Heroes league is 2046645-524696. And don't worry, I've made it so the scores only come into effect from the second week so you won't be behind from the first week. And remember it's just for pride, respect, honour and all other words of similar effect/meaning. Hope some of you can get involved. |

1. Liverpool Everyone else don't care. Except Aston Villa who will go into liquidation for not paying their electric bills and Villa park will be turned into a sewage plant based on the fact it's full of shit already.

What the F#+K is this thread!!
Everyone thinks Palace will go down? Are you all mad...oh wait no you're all right we probably will lol. Still hoping for another 4-5 signings, hopefully a few defenders in there too.
I've been impressed with Villa in their two games; very unlucky against Chelsea. Two tough away games down for them, so they just need to perform at home.
Liverpool, I'm not sure. I still think they're squads a bit light. Same goes for Arsenal.
Utd, City and Chelsea will be the ones to watch, and it pains me to say it but Spurs could well be the dark horse this season? |

You’re right as always, Stevie! We don’t rule anymore… But after watching the match against Chelsea, I have to admit to being very impressed with this young team so far – very unlucky against the blues but I’m not going to blame the referee – Weimann should have scored one of his chances. I was impressed with Delph at the end of last season and that’s continued into this one after his first proper pre-season in years. I really think he’ll have a good season and hopefully if he can stay clear of injuries, a possibility for England. The big game is this weekend where we play Marky Mark’s Liverpool – let’s hope for a win! |

Yep, our youth policy is paying off. The only worry I have is the long season. But as long as we can win win a lot of games early and decide on which cups to go for, if valid, then the boys are looking good. |

Interesting little anecdote (well, it might not actually be that interesting, ha), my sport psychology university lecturer did a lot of work with the Villa youth team when he used to teach at a university based near there. He worked with them to help develop recognition/ memory for different plays, as well as improving their reaction times. |

Nice, Tobester! Actually, by youth policy I meant sort of Lambert buying cheap young players from around Europe, as opposed to splashing out a big name. It's risky but can pay huge dividends in the future. I'm happy with it. |

Okay, a Yank here who enjoys international futebol--but definitely no afficionado of your leagues, though I wish I had the time to watch more of your leagues (and wish more were actually shown here, but that's another story).
Just want to know, how is the Boston Red Sox owner John Henry perceived over there as Liverpool FC's owner? He's not hated nor outwardly beloved here, though he is rather well liked for bringing us our first championship(s) in baseball in 86 years. But there are some here who complain that he's paying too much attention to Liverpool (in time and money) to concentrate on another baseball championship. Just curious if the same is said in Liverpool, that he's too distracted by Boston to run that franchise in UK. And do they like him or not?

@manowar
Irish eyes is probably better placed to answer than me, but as a non native l'pool supported I would 'guess' that it has to end in results.
They have such a rich history that becoming a mid rank table team is not going to impress the locals.
So far the Suarez saga has been interesting to watch. They have steadfastly refused to sell one of their best players even though he wants to go and a decent profit is on the table, so it does suggest intent. |

Oh yeah Villa tomorrow.... @manowar Liverpool fans also feel the same way about Henry and Warner, that they spend too much time with the RedSox. In our defence He attended roughly 2 matches in the entire last season and that's our owner and director. That's unheard of in English football. To give them their dues they have cleaned up our debt(as a result of the last 2 american owners) hicks and college. They have made quite a few mistakes in our transfer market last season but seemed to have made amends this season. They also promised fans they had the money to deal with the big boys, that's proven untrue... so with us Liverpool fans... only time will tell Mark |

Just sitting down to watch Villa v Liverpool and I'm wondering who will be singing on here later...Mark probably will either way as it's his birthday lol. I'll sit on the fence and say a draw.
Two defeats for Palace but two close games and with a few more signings I think we'll get a few points on the board, probably not enough to stay up but I have to remain optimistic. |

It was a rare treat I got to watch some of the game - second half.
Apparently we were better in the first half, bloodily well hope so, wasn't too impressed with what I saw. Reminded me of an England game, protecting a lead, sitting back, everyone sweating for the last 30mins
I thought villa looked quite assured but seem to lack a final punch. |

A fair assessment I think. Liverpool were very good in the opening 30 minutes while Villa were sluggish and looked like a team that had already played two tough away games. But I think Villa turned it around after that and looked like the most likely to score but just couldn’t break down a stubborn Liverpool defence. Liverpool did nothing in the second half and they will not be able to play this way against the big boys. They need to learn to kill teams off, a problem they’ve had for a few years. Stoke nearly claimed a point last week after Liverpool dominated and to be honest, I think Villa deserved a share of the points at the end of this match but I would say that I guess. Look forward to see how this Liverpool side go against Man Utd this weekend. |

I would obviously take a 1:0 but so far we have had to hang on each time - better that than nothing of course. |

Like all our matches so far Bill, a great first half and a defensive 2nd half.
We're the only team with a 100% record and nobody was expecting that, so I'll take 1-0 all year. Utd won many a league on 1-0
And 3 more signings today, the squad looks stronger, also skrtyl might have just redeemed himself

It is looking that way!! Transfer policy was beyond bad. Scattergun and made United look anything but one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can't imagine Fergie would've been impressed by either the amateurish work of either Woodward or Moyes. The most ridiculous thing about Moyes chasing of Fabregas was how he was all high and mighty saying, 'Oh, I don't talk about players from other clubs', and then in the next press conference waxes lyrical about Fabregas and how he'll "have some news for you in the next day or two". It was pathetic, really. Fair enough, he's got big shoes to fill, but Guardiola or Mourinho would've never made the silly mistakes he's made so far. And that is the calibre of manager Manchester United should be employing. |

Good performance from Palace today despite being beaten at Old Trafford. Harsh penalty as it was outside box. Ashley Young is an awful professional, can't stop diving and it's shameful. |

He must be wondering what's happened. Fergie buys him, leaves, Moyes comes in and he doesn't get a sniff...or maybe its because he 'sniffed' around Moyes' daughter? lol To be honest I'm not sure why he isn't getting a chance, he is awesome and I'd go as to say better than Januzai or however you spell it?lol |

Hopefully Palace can get a point but then again hopefully I can win the lottery tonight. There's probably more chance of the latter. |

Big weekend for Utd and Arsenal. You almost feel that Arsenal will set down the biggest marker of the season and show their true credentials this weekend if they beat Utd. I know Man U hasn’t been at their best but they are the champions so it will be a big result if Arsenal get the win – United haven’t been great at home this season.
As for Villa – who cares!? We play at home so I expect us to lose or put in a scrappy performance – we’re are a counter-attacking team and more suited to away games. I expect a draw against Cardiff. |

Great result for Palace...we got a point!!! Next 4 games are probably our easiest so far, if you don't count Fulham and Sunderland (who we beat).
Liverpool look good this season and Chelsea were very lucky, it was never a pen.
Utd really need to beat Arsenal tomorrow too.
Predictions for tomorrow: Spurs v Newcastle 2-0 Sunderland v Man City 1-2 Man Utd v Arsenal 2-2 Swansea v Stoke 3-0 |

The Villa form has been disappointing |
1. Chelsea 2. Man City 3. Man Utd 4. Spurs 5. Arsenal (this is on their current squad - if they buy some quality in the next 3 weeks then I would move them up) 6. Aston Villa... Guess who? (Coop's excluded ) Mid-season re-evaluation anyone? |

Fantastic season so far, so many upsets (thus these predictions are just about meaningless), it just gets better and better for a neutral like me.

Suarez signs new deal at Liverpool, so he'll be off in January then.
Malky Mackay will be sacked on Sunday or Monday for being a good manager by an idiotic owner. They're called the Bluebirds but now play in red with a dragon on the crest.
Hull City will be the Hull Tigers by the end of the season because their owner is a numpty and has no respect for the supporters or a club that has been around long before him and will be around long after him.
Got to love the Premier League. lol |

You mean the same gunner that lost 2-0 against a vastly superior Bayner Munich? Same gunners that wasted a penalty kick? Yeah - go Arsenal -- downhillhill and into reverse with you well-spent £40mill |

Outnumbered it was hard. I couldn't believe it, that they raised the pace in a free kick and earned a counterattack right before the 0-2. They had to play a slowly 0-1. That should have been their best possible result... I'm sorry for you |

I'm not really neutral, it's just that I live in Luton, and I believe in 'supporting' your home town, just not an awful lot to get excited about that's all... but look on the bright side, we might get out of the 'thrilling' conference 'Premier' and back to the heady days of proper league football!!! maybe. |

Hey, I'm not an Arsenal support, not yet I just love Munich and hoped for the gunners to conquer them in the most spectacular way. Without the red card your chances would have been real good, in my eyes. And Arsenal doesn't deserve to be defeated in that way. They were good until that. And I hope for their comeback at the return. From the English teams, I guess, I sympathize most with the gunners, yes. I have no connection to the other teams and I like the way Arsenal plays. I've been there with my home team from Germany, Borussia Dortmund. Maybe ten years ago. We lost 0-2 if I remind right. The old stadium was just awesome. I remember when a friend and I went through that small estate, and those narrow streets. I just thought: where the hell are we? Our match couldn't be here. Then we walked between some buildings, entered through a small steel gate and were standing in the Highbury. We could see the grass flying when our goalie Lehmann, who changed to Arsenal later, shot the ball out of the box. Today's stadiums are lying on huge concrete deserts. I watch out how much the ticket was, if I'll find it. Ok. Too much off topic. The championship must been amazing for you this year. |

Liverpool, me.
Fan, anyway.
I suppose I'm the OOT ( Out Of Towner) as I live miles away from the club but it's a love that will never die. Short story told long: I went on a family holiday, Walten On The Naze, I think, went to a shop/store. Really liked a red and yellow pen with Liverpool FC on it. My Mum or Dad brought it for me, so I supported them, no idea about football at the time. Didn't care for it at all.
Half term finished. Went back to school. Everyone was asking about footy. I had no clue, just said Liverpool. They said "Wow, they are the best team in the world!" or something. I do remember, my best mate at primary was a Man Utd fan. He actually looks like Ferguson, now I think about it.
So one summer day, I'm at home, watching the box. I have a mass craving for football. I have no idea where this came from. It was just " I NEED FOOTBALL". I'd always thought it boring, some crap my Dad would stay tuned to the TV to when he got the football results in to check his pools coupon. WHICH MEANT EVERYONE HAD TO BE QUIET. No Sky Sports here, this was a dramatic run down of scorelines which had my Dad glued to this ancient box of a television. Remember when channel four just emerged? No such things as remotes! You had to push in the button on the damn TV!
We had that fricking thing for ages. Somehow got a VHS player connected to it. A monster of a TV set.
I dug a game of footy that ended 0-0. Just loved it. Craved it. Watched Liverpool on TV for the first time. So excited. No idea what the hell it was, what competition, nothing. I didn't even know what the competitions were! Liverpool! On TV? I must see this!
So we were beating Kussisi Lahti of Finland 2-1 at half time in a UEFA Cup tie. My Dad came home from work, said the score was "Dodgy" or words to those extent. I didnt get it. "We're winning". "Not really." "What?" Explaining the aggregate away goals rule to the inexperienced can be a little more than difficult I guess. I was gonna make a cheap sexist joke there but...
Get to the point!
Liverpool won 6-1, I fell in love with the club through books, VHS' and eventually going up to the place. I have cried when we lost, sad though that is, and cried in joy when we have won. It's just a feeling you have, I have no idea why it IS, it just IS.
My first game at Anfield was paid by my late grandmother, so me and my Dad could afford to go to Liverpool for the first time. We won 4-1. Ticket said obstructed view but it was a great view! Ian Rush scored a record breaking goal in the last minite,
We went loads of times after that - hooked! - although Liverpool were shite compared to their previous, it was still amazing to go and see them. My Dad, A Luton fan, would always take me there if he could afford it.
We stood in the Kop in the 0-2 against Newcastle, which was gutting, but the pressure was on as the stand was to be demolished after the next game. It's horrible to lose but I suppose the consolation is at least I got to stand there and shout my support until I couldn't speak no more.
So yeah, sorry for warbling on, bit tipsy, and all that but I think I have cursed Liverpool. Ever since I supported them, they have shot from 2nd to lower!
Although we have had some amazing times. But the league is what counts!

|
The mighty Luton, I remember the old astro pitch you guys had... horrible due to N Ireland politics I never had a home team growing up until 5 years after I supported Liverpool. Nearly every football fan in Ireland in either Liverpool or Utd... or Celtic and Rangers My family was huge Liverpool fans since the 60's so I couldn't avoid it.
Quoted from PrussianMosby Another offtopic. Dortmund got an old connection to Liverpool. Maybe coming from 1960's. We even sing You'll never walk along before our games. Unfortunately we don't get Liverpool for a long time. |
I love German football, Bayern are unstoppable right now. Dortmund ran them a good match in the final last year, you also have a great team... although Bayern bought all your best players. I also like to see Bayern Leverkusen do well due to Sami Hyypia(former Liverpool great).
Quoted from Scoob Liverpool won 6-1, I fell in love with the club through books, VHS' and eventually going up to the place. I have cried when we lost, sad though that is, and cried in joy when we have won. It's just a feeling you have, I have no idea why it IS, it just IS |

I don't watch football on a Sunday 'coz it's an unholy thing to do on the Sabbath ... but it's almost midnight, so I checked the result-- 3-2! Wow. But then a lot of people were saying that Liverpool were more than capable than hurting Man C. My Mum's a Man C supporter, but she never watches or takes any interest, so she's not bothered.
It's all on mistakes now - whoever trips up first... But really, I'd kinda love to see Liverpool win again after so long - and what a job BR's done???
Oh yeah, and Luton screwed up losing 3-2, so we're still not promoted. |

Yeah Simon Although Mourinho keeps playing it off as fake league because his team are 2nd... they know if they win their matches they win the league. It's pretty crazy being a pool fan, we were more than happy for champions league... but league leaders with 4 to go Mark |

That was amazing. No voice left. TV must want to shout back at me for all the abuse I gave it. Incredible day, hate drinking in the early 'noon but this was a day... (96)
We ( Liverpool) will fuck this up. No doubt. Torres (90) Chelski win 2-1. That would just be plain mean. Let us win this damn thing just once! |

As an Arsenal fan, I seriously hope that Liverpool win. They've been the best team by far this season and the football that they have been playing has been nothing short of spectacular.
Great to see so many English players as well on the regular starting line up. |

Mark, i agree - getting a little tense now. Where are those 6-0 victories when you need them?
Having said that 11 wins in a row and defiantly in Europe next year is all good news.

Sadly Utd have parted ways with David Moyes. He should have been given more time to destroy the club from within. Absolutely gutted Mark |

Didn't Moyse win 4-0 in his first match? Mourinho knows all about parking buses, so no surprises on him trying to spoil the party. Goal difference now... but at least there's more for Man C to get wrong Oh, and we've got Luton's promotion parade going on next week Sunday if anyone fancies making the trek -- see you there! |

Gutted, as a Liverpool fan, but I half-expected it. We're gonna have to deal with more of the same in europe. I can't stand Chelsea but they played a brilliant game, same as Liverpool did many times in trips to Juventus, Barcelona etc. in the past. Still, great season, gutted not to get top spot and feel for Stevie G, but we go again! |

It seems to me that a lot of Liverpool fans have already thrown in the towel. City still have three games to go, one of which is Everton away, and despite what the conspiracy theorists say, that will still be a very tough game.
In truth though I couldn't care less who wins the title (as long as it's never Arsenal). But then again I'd prefer it not to be Liverpool because I worry their fans could become quite insufferable again. The last couple of seasons they've learnt a bit of humility but it could all be for nothing.
I'm a Spurs fan though so I'm probably just bitter that yet again, much like religion, we promise much but deliver nothing. It feels like it's been the worst season I've ever seen, some of the defeats have been truly embarrassing. If we win our last two games we'll have our highest ever Premier League points total, so maybe it's not as bad as I think.
The main positive I take as a Spurs fan, and I have to find one somewhere, is that Christian Eriksen is better than Mesut Ozil. Just a shame about the other £90million of 'talent' we brought in. |

Liverpool fan - been a great season. Way beyond expectation.
I think City will win it now, they will beat Everton on Saturday, too much made of "how they have lost there the last four years." So they will correct that and win well.
I think Pool will draw 1-1 with Palace, Chelsea will probably win, taking it to the final day but when you look at the fixture list... yeah, City will win the league.
It has been the most enjoyable season I have witnessed in years! Man Utd's demise, Liverpool's rise... I suppose other things have happened but I like to concentrate on those two things the most. Oh, and Jose Mourinho not winning anything with his £100M+ little ponies.
And then we have the World Cup! Three full games to enjoy!

And Utd fans crawl back into the woodwork I fucking love it! That aside, relying on the neighbours to get a result, didn't go as well as expected. 2 home games left for City and one of them... Aston Villa Sweet Jesus Stevie, of all the teams to be counting on. If we can beat Palace 10-0 we should be in with a chance which means we'll probably draw. All in all it's being a great season played beyond our expectations, finish in the top 3 and watch Utd crumble. I'll take that Mark |

The Villa will win the day! I hate Shitty with a passion. But Liverpool's choke last week has made me feel they deserve to miss out. But I hate Shitty with a passion so I'm still rooting for the Scousers (be odd if I didn't...you know, Beatles, mumble mumble, home of music...lol) |
