I don't see why not. Doesn't make sense to me that out of the entire universe, only earth has life.
Now, I don't buy all the ridiculous theories about aliens having crazy technology and abducting people. Obviously I don't know if there are aliens... I'm just saying there's a possibility.
Well, my five cents. Is there extraterrestrial life out there? DEFINITELY.
Has it ever been to Earth? I don't think so. I used to be a UFO buff as a kid, and never read anything that was more than wishful thinking IMHO. I think that, when there's first contact, we'll ALL know about it. And there will be tons of proof.
Funny, perhaps, coming from an SF buff who likes to write about aliens (among other things.) But I'm not a "believer." But are we the only evolved species in the entire universe? Seriously doubtful...
What's the word for agnostic, but like, not about a deity? I'd be that, about aliens . . . until they show up, who knows or cares? But my belief definitely leans to there being other lifeforms somewhere in the universe. It's a big universe.
Boy, Shawn! You're just not gonna leave Silverback alone! Ha ha.
Nick,
If you can find it, check out a non-fiction book by Whitley Strieber called Communion. If you're not familiar with the story, Mr. Strieber is an accomplished novelist who claimed to have been abducted by aliens. They made a movie based on the book starring Christopher Walken. But I def recommend the book. I read it when I was, like, 18, and it had me jumping at shadows and afraid to close my eyes in the shower. Just down right creepy.
Personally, I find it rather short sighted to think we are the only form of life in an infinite universe. There must be something out there besides us. Gotta be. Whether its some kind of plant life, a single cell organism or a full blown race of intelligent beings. Who knows? It's just too fascinating a topic to dismiss. As far as I'm concerned...
I've always thought that those who think we're the only intelligent life forms in the universe are pretentious assholes. There are millions of planets out there. How can we possibly be the only ones who can ponder this question?
One of my daughters was in the USAF (got out today) she swears there are plenty of videos showing aliens on their security cameras. She says it's not a secret, they just don't talk about it because if they do, people just think they are crazy.
I had the craziest dream when I was in the Navy years ago! I was underway after 9/11 and the dream goes like this, it was friggen so real:
I'm wandering around the boat and I get pulled away to go escort a dignitary on board that just landed on the flight deck. Its raining like cats and dogs. I get to the flight deck and sure enough I go to salute the dignitary and -- it's a fucking alien! I can still picture it in my head, lol!

When you woke up, you realized you were late for your high school chemistry finals that you didn't study for.
