Just heartbreaking to hear.

I agree with so many here that said he was one of the VERY best. I believe he could play anything. He was Truman Capote and a few years later former major league baseball player / A's manager Art Howe. You can't get more opposite than that and he was believable as both.

He could be as funny and he could be menacing.

An amazing talent...it's sad that he left us too early and yet it's much more sad on several other levels. I will miss his work greatly...

Heroin is an equal opportunity killer.

Having known several addicts, including one of my children, I can say…

It was that one thing most out of control in his life but the one thing he thought he could tame.

When in truth, it’s the very nature of heroin addiction that deceives you into believing that your “ratio” or “method” won’t ever catch you alone with a hot shot.

Movie stars hell bent on doing commercials to save the trees ought to consider turning one out for their own peers in Hollywood. Addiction is becoming rampant!

RIP Phillip…

I saw a 16-year-old kid go over one time. I never injected heroin myself but I have chased the dragon a few times. I've known of quite a few die. Any one shot can kill you. Each and every time you inject heroin you are rolling the dice with your life. No matter how experienced you are. It's not just purity but state of mind too.

By the way, the 16-year-old survived... but he did die for a while. There wasn't anything I could do to stop him from taking it. I did try. Normal 16-year-old kid, family argument, they'd thrown him out, then he ended up in shit street. Suffice to say he went back to his family after that... hopefully with a wiser outlook on life.

Yeah - very sad - he seemed to hate the limelight, socially awkward and personal issues. Heroin turned into Ace of Spades? Apparently this is 'epidemic proportions' over there now? Condolences to all of those close to him - we could do with more actors like him, not less. RIP.

I've heard it's this version of heroin mixed with Fentanyl, an incredibly powerful narcotic 100 times more potent than morphine.  Read an interview with a woman who od'd on this same Ace of Spades brand.  She said the moment she injected, she went unconscious, needle still in her arm.  Took CPR and a small army of doctors to bring her back.
