For the first time in my life I will actually be cheering on Germany. If Argentina win, it will be an unbelievable disgrace. They have been below mediocre all tournament; yet somehow still manage to get results. Guess that's what having Messi will do for you. However, Germany have, for me, been the most consistent team in an otherwise brilliant, yet ludicrously inconsistent, tournament.

This will be me tonight

7 man? Dustin, you're not talking about that cheating stuff, with the FIFA and the referee behind us, and our players diving in the opponent's box searching for penalties?

I would definitely hope for England if they were facing Argentina. Fuck, I'm getting nervous, so I bought some Becks, truly. (by the way-Beckham was a good one of course)

Mascherano is a monster of a defender and they still have Messi on the pitch.

It will be hard tonight. Hopefully I calm down now. Otherwise I need to take those mysterious drugs Rendevouz is talking about. But no, they seem to have a different effect.

German Fritzs going for the Cup.

I'm going to the party now. On a Sunday. That's curious. But we're Germans over here; the whole country is amazed of a single football game.

Reggae, German beer, is that what you're talking about Ren :

I hope we beat them tonight. If so, I'll take some more beer tonight. If not, I'll take some more beer tonight. Tomorrow Germany will not make much money with all those drugged people running around and all the certificates of illness. State of emergency I guess. Greetings to the football company here.

Germany are the lesser of the two evils, I suppose.

I'm sure the Argentinian swine will be diving like crazy tonight... but I'm equally sure the Germans will find a way through and hopefully annihilate them 5-0.

Yeah my prediction too. It's 5 am Monday and game is nearly underway.

While this WC has been great Mark, it's still prolly 1982 for me as the best tourney. And 1994 very close behind except for the boring Final lol

0-0 half time.

Both teams seem to be trying to win rather than trying to lose, like quite often happens on these big occasions.

Enthralling stuff so far.

Prussian, you must be a nervous wreck right now.

I guess the big question is, is anyone in England actually choosing to watch on ITV instead of BBC????

Actually I only realised before that Messi and Ronaldo would be in the 3rd tier of great players.

Forgot about dudes like Ronaldinho, Romario, Mattheus, etc

Deserved for Germany. Easily the best all round team, and to be cliche when describing the Germans, very efficient.

And while I would say Messi is up with the greats, he certainly didn't deserve the player of the tournament. Decision making gone mad.

I kind of agree. I don't know who you would give it to. You should give it to someone on the winning team, but no one stood out that much. If Muller had scored I would give it to him.

To me if Messi plays in this form for 4 or so more years, I would rank him as the best player of all time. At least the best player I've seen. I've been watching actively for the past 20 years.

I had to check the score this morning. I lost interest in the boring game well before half time.

Hey people. I'm back from the party-train.  A long night which cost me two days to recover. Great, great Party, but now I'll better care about my health again.

The game was more a battle of attrition. I think our team was able to take more hits. Kramer lost his memory and went to hospital; he didn't even know he was on the pitch for Khedira. Schweini was blooding, sweating, fighting. Argentina had brilliant chances to defeat us. Goetze made us the lucky winners this time.

Messi seems to win those trophies all the time. From our team, maybe Neuer would have deserved it most. But all the players like Khedira, Hummels, Kroos, Mueller, Lahm, they all gave a good performance as a team, so I think the underdog from Columbia would have been my choice. This James Rodriguez guy helped his team the most with his individual skills. Next station is Russia.

The cat is in the sack. – Giovanni Trapattoni
