Oftentimes I read them and want to comment, but instinctively feel it's bad etiquette to leave any negative comments (even though they'd be constructive).

I just thought you'd all like to know that.

Hi Rick -

FWIW - as moderator of STS - I personally feel that constructive recommendations are not offensive, or unwelcome.

Although, given the format, it may sometimes be more fitting to email the author directly rather than post it as a comment on the review.

Comments that are not constructive, of course, are never appropriate... either on STS or any writer's board!

Cheers and best,

I was very surprised (and glad) to see Static Town make it on STS.  I have read 2 of Kevin's features (Static Town being one of them) and while I think he could benefit from adding (or at least beefing up the) conflict, goals, and stakes, into his storylines, there's just something about his writing I like.

I am really excited for his next feature, though, it sounds like a good one.
