Anyone has any thoughts on this? We need to write scripts that don't offend anyone now?

I'm not sure Sony had much of a choice here, if they'd released it and a cinema had have been bombed... they'd be blamed for not heeding the warnings.

Hopefully the group who did this will be identifed, brought to book, and the film can get a belated release.

I'm shelving my N Korea BDSM comedy though

Guess we're in the same boat, Anthony. My cop buddy comedy, "Korean Krackdown", was set to light the world on fire. You'd figure with a country that, if the reports are right, consists of a population that would make those in poverty in the U.S. rich, we shouldn't really be all that afraid of them. I'm just not seeing the logic of the major theater chains acting like a bunch of pussies because of something they read on the internet. I'm not old enough to remember a time when the U.S. wasn't full of spineless failures, but I've heard about it and this is such a far cry from the stories I've heard. It's really a damn shame. However, with all this crap about the tentpoles having to also appease China, we should have seen this kind of reaction coming a mile away.

I bet James Franco will make a documentary about this whole situation.... and that will suck like this movie.

Now they're saying the North Koreans are indeed behind the hack attack. I say, let's get Dennis Rodman to take Kim Jong Un out next time he visits...

Quoted from Grandma Bear
'Sony cancels the release of The Interviw'

My thoughts are there's at least two 'e's in 'interview'.

Sony's bottom fell out. Not exactly inspiring.

I'd be more annoyed, but seeing as it's Seth Rogan and James Franco in an American comedy I really could not care much less.

There are several things wrong with this situation. One, why are we going this nuts over a Seth Rogen movie? Two, why are foreign countries being allowed to infringe upon our freedom of speech in our own country? Three, where can Rogen and Goldberg go next, now that they've pushed the envelope this far? They've gotta be running out of schtick.

"I remember a time of chaos. Ruined dreams. This wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior. The man we called 'Max'."

I'm not sure if you could consider that as infringement on freedom of speech. But if the government takes a pass on a script rather than Hollywood...

If nothing else, it is a great way to make me really want to see a movie that I had virtually no interest in prior to this clusterf**k.

Straight to On Demand/Pay Per View?

It could be the only way Sony minimizes its losses.

Smart of Sony and the theatres to shut it down. The multi-screen theatres can't afford to lose customers for all the other films on the premises. Would you take kids to see Annie across the hall from The Interview given the threat?

Hilarious.

Make a movie that's provocative for profit's sake, of course you're gonna fold like a punk the second there's trouble. They might have to try different tactics now, like, say, making something good.

As someone said, "movies usually have a time-honored tradition of waving giant middle fingers to any body that might seek to censor or silence artistic expression.  Apparently, not anymore.  Go figure....

I'm with Bert, I absolutely had no desire to see this movie, but after the threats, I would have...if the theaters had shown it.

I wonder what Sony would have done had this been a movie with a $150-200 million dollar budget.
