After intense pressure from Christopher Nolan, JJ Abrahms, Quentin Tarantino, Judd Apatow and Marty Scorsese, after Nolan's "film-only first" release strategy for Interstellar, and with more and more movies being shot on film (and yes, a lot are still digital), the Big 6 -- Disney, Warner, Paramount, Universal, Sony and Fox -- have struck a deal with Kodak to keep film alive and a viable option for filmmakers.
In the new deal, studios will agree to buy a set amount of film each year, whether or not they end up using it. The deal includes negative film, intermediate film and asset protection.
Upcoming movies being shot on film include Star Wars Episode VII (35mm and IMAX), Jurassic World (35mm and 65mm; IMAX is not confirmed), Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (35mm and IMAX), Ant-Man, Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella, Entourage, Mission: Impossible 5, Trainwreck, The Hateful Eight (65mm), and Bond 24.
Oscar nominees shot on film include Boyhood, The Imitation Game, Interstellar, Into the Woods, The Judge, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Foxcatcher.

This is a relief. Now I won't have to worry about my career being over before it begins, because while digital is okay, film is much better IMO.
